Lately I have been working a full weeks work week aside from writing and recording music part time. Last night I spent a long time recording and putting things together. Some of it needed extra work. These two components together was causing me extra stress. I arrived at work today and accidentally went down to the ground floor without my electronic cigarette that I always take with me, that one along with my backup. When I got downstairs I realized that I forgot it upstairs. Then a thought from outer space came to me and said that because I am so stressed out I need a cigarette because only a cigarette can cure my current feelings in this moment. So I decided to build upon that thought and found myself walking to the gas station to buy Marlboro Reds and I bought a pack.

Now I'm in my office doing computer work. I smoked two cigarettes and I chain smoked them. My hands and clothes smell terrible. Here in NY cigarettes are at least fourteen dollars and I really wasted this money. Now I'm feeling bad that I bought them, I wish I didn't. Maybe I need to go through this situation for the next time I'm in a similar position so I don't make the same mistakes I had made today.

To be honest when I smoked those two I finished them and felt like I still didn't get my fill and this never happened with electronic cigarettes. I'm always happy that I smell good like aftershave in the morning when I leave my house and if I smoke a cigarette and go on the train or bus I'll smell terrible.

I will try to use this event as a lesson in my future. To take the negative as positive advice as to what to look out for. I'm sure others can relate to this.

I'm sorry you felt stressed enough to smoke but glad you learned from it. Cigarettes are never a solution. I'm proud of you for realizing that after only two cigarettes. Be proud of yourself! Slips happen but you didn't crash and burn.

Don’t beat yourself up. We will all have moments of weakness and stress. Now you know where the line is for you, and you can use that. When you sense you’re tempted, go back and grab your vape.

For me, I do okay unless other people are smoking. I can deal with it if I’m doing okay, but if I’m having a rough day, I have to go away from the smokers.

My mom was sick all year, and I fell off the wagon. I had to be around family often, and many of them smoke. Especially after she passed away, and everyone was in town. And I was so angry with myself because I did just fine for years... but all we can do is keep trying.

That was me at the end, couldn't stand smelling bad. Sounds like you're winning. Now, how about a sample of your music?
Thanks for asking. So I appreciate and listen to all genres, I have been writing and recording HipHop. I was thinking about recording a song specifically for vaping.

Edit: you mean sharing my music itself?

Yes, many of us can relate. As everyone else has said, slip-ups can happen, but you've got the attitude you need to succeed in the long run. Good luck!

Going out without a vape is like going out without a smoke. I can remember picking butts out of ashtrays outside shops if I left my smokes in the car. Maybe your experience will make you a little more obsessive about always having the vape in your pocket. Obsessive is good sometimes.

It does get easier eventually. Now if I head out to do some shopping and realise I didn't bring a vape I don't even turn the car around.

Good luck

I mean if you were recording lyrics you know that you spent a lot of time and brain power effort to put it together. If you were an up and becoming artist, would you be willing to share your music? It has the ability to be brought to the studio and this is just a lower quality recording put together. People can steal the lyrics when there is no copyright and it's not done professionally yet.

I believe he wants to hear your music, not for you to share so all others can take your material and use it to record something of our own.

You do not need studio recorded material to copyright. You do not even need your lyrics accompanied by music. If you fear someone will steal your lyrics, copyright your lyrics. Doesn’t cost much, but can take close to 2 years for the application to be processed. Be a good idea if you are out shopping for a record label - cause they too could steal your lyrics. The music idustry is cut-throat

The good thing is you learned two lessons. First, they didn’t satisfy you (that’s a biggie) and second, they smell terrible. The likelihood of that happening again is a lot lower after that experience. But it’s a risk every ex smoker takes. Best bet, keep an extra somewhere. And if you’re out and totally stuck and can’t make it until you get home then get a Juul or whatever crappy thing they have at the store. It’ll still be better than a cigarette.

After I smoked those two I threw out the pack and lighter. I went right back to vaping and I guess tomorrow morning the smell will be gone. Clothes that still smell will be washed so I guess it wasn't a big deal. I'm glad that I'm in the state of mind where logic overpowers my compulsions overall. It's normal though for me to fall in a situation when I haven't had that level of stress in a long time. The truth is that I completely justified the situation and I honestly believed that the cigarette would have a better effect and in that situation and I thought I had to do it for my sanity. Being that I have this thought process it shows how I haven't had a cigarette in a long time because if I did I would know the thinking was twisted. Now that I experienced this test I will perform better in a similar test in the future. One thing I also learned is that with vaping one can get their fill a lot faster based on the intensity level of the nicotine. Anyway all is good because it ends good.

Hi EIHYPI. I use to be in the business and have had music aired on SNL and other places. It's been awhile since I had to copyright anything but here's some useful information. Put your songs together in something called Book of Songs Vol. 1 (just a simplified example) and copyright the volume for the same price as one song. Actually, I see that's changed but still cheaper as a collection.

For one work, the fee is $35. If you're submitting multiple works, then the fee is $55. You can pay this with a credit card, debit card, electronic check, or copyright office deposit account. You can take a look at more of the fees associated with copyrights here.Nov 3, 2016

But best of all, putting your name with the copyright symbol and year on your work gives you protection and it costs nothing.

Although years ago the law required a work to have;a valid copyright notice;printed on it to receive protection on published work, this is no longer the case. Adding the symbol or any other copyright notice is no longer necessary to receive protection.Oct 10, 2017

I quit smoking over 6 months ago... well almost. I still slip and every cig tstes nasty and stnks! I hate myself for giving in to that monkey on my back. When I vape it tastes so good and is so satisfying I keep wondering why I slipped. It's the reason I don't have one of those things that say "1800 days without..." it woul be a lie.

Pretty sure he was just trying to be nice and supportive. Kinda cynical on your part to automatically assume somebody wants to steal your material. A simple "I'd rather not, it's not quite ready" would have been a bit more tactful.

As far as your original post, we all relapse. I personally have been vaping for over six years and still allow myself one cigarette per day. Rather that feel guilty, I celebrate the tens of thousands of cigarettes I DIDN'T smoke.

Best of luck with your music career, and your harm reduction.

I wasn't assuming that he wanted to steal my material. I just was saying that I feel uncomfortable sharing it altogether being that it's still in progress for many reasons.
