So they just got here recently, and i just cant believe it. I have an xBox (not TV yet tho, searching for one to borrow from friends lol) with the Kinnects attachment and a waffler (waffle maker) which seriously rocks. They got here in Less then ten days for the waffler and less then a week for the xbox.

Okay, So it was one of those penny auction sites (wont name since i'm not plugging it, just shouting my excitement) And i have been curious for a loooong time, but never wanted to try it cause it seemed SO scammy you know? Well, first item i won in ONE bid, for 1 cent plus shipping (ten bucks) and it came with 25 more free bids and then the xbox i won for 1.09 plus shipping and four bids. Seriously. Isnt that awesome?

I didnt know how cool xboxes were until my brother enlightened me. Not only can you play HD movies on them, but they have wireless preinstalled and no less then four gigs of hard drive space plus you can get harddrives for them as much as like 250gigs. You can download games and movies from the net, chat with friends on the net via audio, even play netflix movies using its internet feature. Its really quite amazing. They also have USB plug ins and will read off external hard drives and usb thumb drives, movies, music, etc, etc, etc. I am suitibly impressed. And with the kinnects part you can basically get excercise like the wii fit stuff, by playing games. And since me and excercising have an somewhat untenable relationship i'm hoping it will get me a bit more active then my chronic pain condition convinces me i'm able to do. :)

So. I WON. Its exciting. Yippy!

Be warned tho guys, i would seriously research all penny auction sites religiously before joining one and even the best of them really should be conisdered a GAME and not to expect to win. Kinda like gambling or lotto. There are tips and tricks and good times to try, but it takes research and really being educated. So dont take it like its without its risks. I just took a very calculated risk with bids given to me as a gift by a friend, and it paid off for me because i was .... as heck about researching best times and what site i picked and by the end of the first day i have 60 more bids i managed to get free because i found coupons and bid smart. So... if all that appeals, it worked for me :)

Yay! Now you guys gatta come over for ecigs, waffles, and xbox gaming/movies :)

Be well all!

Well, i can totally feel you. It is like gambling. I'm lucky i got the opportuity to try. The site i use, there is a great blog i found with strategies and all kindsa info on ratios of people to auctions. I had been noticing the best times to try were weekdays mostly wednessdays thursdays and i think tuesdays that you can win at lower prices from like 9-2 pac time. And this blog confirmed my own noticings so now i'm reading all his info. I went back and looked and sure enough i won the xbox on a wednessday at around 9 am and the waffler on tuesday same time block. Its really fun, and so long as you do the research and make sure you avoid the sites that have illegal bots trying to raise the bids and keep the auctions a live you're good. The thing about this site is say you spent 50 bucks in BIDS on trying to win an item you really want and would be WILLING to pay full price on. If you LOOSE the auction, you have two hours to decide you'll buy the item full price and they will put the cost of the bids you lost towards the buy it now price. So you have the option to put the bids you'd otherwise loose towards your purchase price so you never actually loose out. I DO like that. I think thats a really smart feature.

So they make money from the auctions, but they also can be treated like a retail store, and i think thats smart. Also no matter how big the item, (they have cars sometimes, and scooters and 60in plasma tvs) the highest shipping cost i believe is 33.99 So thats not bad at all for the big items. I think that my xbox was 15 buck shipping which is higher but worth it given i paid 1 dollar for it. :grins:

Anyhoot. Its fun, but just be smart if you decide to try them. Use reputable sites that allow you to buy IT NOW if you loose on an item. Make sure you do your research, and above all - treat it like gambling - my father taught me "never bet what you arent willing to loose" if you treat it that way, you cant feel ripped off. Its people who expect that they will certainly win something that cry scam when they dont bid smart and loose money as a result. There ARE scammy penny auction sites, in fact i think more then there are legit ones, but the legit ones do try and do it right.

:smiles:
