Don't beat yourself up, just get back to the good stuff.
I definitely wasn't keeping a higher nic level on hand. I will do that from now on. My ProVari and IBT are hard to beat though. They work for me. I have the added obstacle of my husband smoking. They are always around. I always see them. It didn't bother me for the longest time and then boom. Lesson learned. Higher nic level on hand at all times.I think differently about this and i'm very sad you broke down after all that time , what a bummer. All you can do is get up and try again but i'm really shocked that it happened in the first place because of the time involved without them.
I think everybody who starts vaping still has some real cig's here and there at first but once you really take off and find what works for you it's very rare (at least thats what i'm told) so who knows.
I can only think of two reasons for failure , either you don't vape different percentages of nicotine ( sometimes i had to go up to get by at times and other times i could vape much lower nic ) , or you still have not found what really works for you and need more time to find it .
I know this isn't a quit smoking support group, but for most of us quitting smoking and vaping go hand in hand. We congratulate each other for quitting all the time. We can also give encouragement. This isn't really a quit-smoking support group. It's a vaping forum. Just keep on vaping, its really awesome.
I know, I'm sorry. OP, don't worry about your personal setback. You are on the right track. Vaping is more enjoyable than smoking anyway.I know this isn't a quit smoking support group, but for most of us quitting smoking and vaping go hand in hand. Ashby, I've still got two sealed cartons in my pantry.....Probably pretty stale by now. I started out with the conviction that I was NOT quitting after 53 yrs of smoking. This was just going to be a temporary fix for a planned vacation then back to smoking. This whole "vaping thing" was unplanned and surprised the heck out of me.
In other words, there was no stress to quit; and I was going to light up as soon as I stopped practicing. Being retired and no hormonal kids around though made my life a heck of a lot less stressful. From day one I had tobacco close by for use at any time......Apparently I tricked myself!
BUT, it worked! Beginning next month will mark 2 yrs tobacco free.....and I still have those cartons in the pantry and will STILL light up if I want to. One or a few couldn't possibly hurt me more than the continuous 53 yrs smoking did; but, holy cow, they would taste nasty and are not even close to being pretty. However, my choice....
I like options.![]()
I'm hoping for some words of encouragement and maybe to know I'm not alone while letting others know they aren't either.

Got to find a way to switch your husband over though , that will make it a lot easier.
Amazing story! My step-son has Autism so I completely understand your stress there. It's very impressive that you were both able to quit on your own. So many people pick it back up even after many years. It's wonderful that you found vaping to keep you from lighting up again. We all know it only takes one and it's a hard habit to break. Congrats to you both for overcoming! I hope you are enjoying California.Enjoy your new toys, and don't beat yourself up over a setback. You are on the right track.
My daughter and I started vaping because of the stress. We had both quit cold turkey around 9 years ago when the price of cigarettes went way over our budget. The desire to smoke never really left, but we managed to work through the cravings. Around 3 years ago, we were doing a "rent to own" on a house that we really liked. We were finally able to get my grandson, who has autism, a dog. We were in a good place. Then we found out that we would have to move for my daughter's externship for her Doctorate in Audiology. Across the country from Ohio to California, no less. Trying to find a house to rent that we could afford, sight unseen (we could not afford for either of us to travel to look at prospective rentals) on what she would be earning from the externship plus my Social Security. We had pets, and did not want to have to rehome them, so we needed someplace that was on board with furry family members. Trying to get a teen with autism on board with moving and packing and going through his stuff. We were both on the verge of going out and buying a few cartons of cigarettes. My daughter had heard about ecigarettes. We hemmed and hawed. We debated whether ecigarettes would really work to keep us away from starting to smoke again. My daughter finally caved and got herself a Blu disposable. I told her to get one for me to try, too. It worked. No more getting ready to climb up the walls, dying for a smoke. Once we got away from Blu, we started experimenting with different nicotine levels and flavors. We are happy and satisfied. There are stressful days when we "chain vape" for sure, but once we found our "happy place" as far as nicotine goes we have not looked back.
Keep working on it. You can do this, with no regrets.
