I think differently about this and i'm very sad you broke down after all that time , what a bummer. All you can do is get up and try again but i'm really shocked that it happened in the first place because of the time involved without them.

I think everybody who starts vaping still has some real cig's here and there at first but once you really take off and find what works for you it's very rare (at least thats what i'm told) so who knows.

I can only think of two reasons for failure , either you don't vape different percentages of nicotine ( sometimes i had to go up to get by at times and other times i could vape much lower nic ) , or you still have not found what really works for you and need more time to find it .

I definitely wasn't keeping a higher nic level on hand. I will do that from now on. My ProVari and IBT are hard to beat though. They work for me. I have the added obstacle of my husband smoking. They are always around. I always see them. It didn't bother me for the longest time and then boom. Lesson learned. Higher nic level on hand at all times.

While it certainly is true that this isn't a stop-smoking, or smoking cessation support group, you will find a large majority of us wound up here because we wanted to stop smoking cigarettes. If vaping gets us there, so much the better. And I can tell you that this is by far the best group I have ever communicated with on stop smoking topics because most of us get it.

By the way, I had a cigarette today. First one in a week since I started vaping. It was terrible, and after work I went by the vape shop, got my favorite vanilla custard, and all is good.

This isn't really a quit-smoking support group. It's a vaping forum. Just keep on vaping, its really awesome.
I know this isn't a quit smoking support group, but for most of us quitting smoking and vaping go hand in hand. We congratulate each other for quitting all the time. We can also give encouragement.

I know, I'm sorry. OP, don't worry about your personal setback. You are on the right track. Vaping is more enjoyable than smoking anyway.

It's a community - and we either stand together or fall apart - you're in the right place! Keep the faith and vape on!

Ashby, I've still got two sealed cartons in my pantry.....Probably pretty stale by now. I started out with the conviction that I was NOT quitting after 53 yrs of smoking. This was just going to be a temporary fix for a planned vacation then back to smoking. This whole "vaping thing" was unplanned and surprised the heck out of me.

In other words, there was no stress to quit; and I was going to light up as soon as I stopped practicing. Being retired and no hormonal kids around though made my life a heck of a lot less stressful. From day one I had tobacco close by for use at any time......Apparently I tricked myself!

BUT, it worked! Beginning next month will mark 2 yrs tobacco free.....and I still have those cartons in the pantry and will STILL light up if I want to. One or a few couldn't possibly hurt me more than the continuous 53 yrs smoking did; but, holy cow, they would taste nasty and are not even close to being pretty. However, my choice....
I like options. :)

I have a pack of smokes that sit in my cupboard too. It's my choice not to smoke and having them there is what has helped make my quit successful. Having different nic levels around help too for those stressful days. But once I dropped the nic to 0 I found that I don't get any cravings now, not even on stressful days. At least no cravings so far in months since going to 0nic. Also I don't want to reset my counter below because of one smoke.

Don't beat yourself up but try to remember why you quit smoking and started vaping in the first place, it may help you stay on track.

I see you have a husband, send him and others out to the garage to smoke. Tell them you do not want to see it, and if he wishes to see you, he had better do it!....Use that feminine "charm" on him

....Trust me it works, I am the disgruntled buyer of over 60 pairs of pumps, stilettos, and all the other shoes you women hardly wear!

....Hang in there!!

I'm hoping for some words of encouragement and maybe to know I'm not alone while letting others know they aren't either.

Don't sweat it. One of the phrases I throw out a lot is that every cigarette NOT smoked is a victory, and I will continue to stand firmly by that philosophy. Whether you still smoke regularly, relapse after not smoking or just have one or two smokes on a tough day, it's not a big deal. Just think of all the ones you HAVEN'T smoked with pride and keep on keepin' on :)

Oh thats really tough , sorry to hear that . There have been times when i really craved a real cigarette and was convinced i was going to have one , i did not think my vape was going to keep me away this time.

Well , before i did i decided to up the nic a bit and to my surprise it completely took away that powerful urge to have a real one so i was very pleased. I was convinced it wasn't going to work .

Got to find a way to switch your husband over though , that will make it a lot easier.

He tried. He has the dreaded PG allergy and just couldn't stick with it. He is very respectful of me though. He encourages me to vape and he won't smoke in my car or anything. We never smoked in the house so that isn't an issue.

Some of my new goodies arrived today so cigarettes have been the last thing on my mind. The Tiffany Blue ProVari is gorgeous! Now I'm waiting on my DNA40 so I can really play with this Subtank. We want to be friends.

Enjoy your new toys, and don't beat yourself up over a setback. You are on the right track.

My daughter and I started vaping because of the stress. We had both quit cold turkey around 9 years ago when the price of cigarettes went way over our budget. The desire to smoke never really left, but we managed to work through the cravings. Around 3 years ago, we were doing a "rent to own" on a house that we really liked. We were finally able to get my grandson, who has autism, a dog. We were in a good place. Then we found out that we would have to move for my daughter's externship for her Doctorate in Audiology. Across the country from Ohio to California, no less. Trying to find a house to rent that we could afford, sight unseen (we could not afford for either of us to travel to look at prospective rentals) on what she would be earning from the externship plus my Social Security. We had pets, and did not want to have to rehome them, so we needed someplace that was on board with furry family members. Trying to get a teen with autism on board with moving and packing and going through his stuff. We were both on the verge of going out and buying a few cartons of cigarettes. My daughter had heard about ecigarettes. We hemmed and hawed. We debated whether ecigarettes would really work to keep us away from starting to smoke again. My daughter finally caved and got herself a Blu disposable. I told her to get one for me to try, too. It worked. No more getting ready to climb up the walls, dying for a smoke. Once we got away from Blu, we started experimenting with different nicotine levels and flavors. We are happy and satisfied. There are stressful days when we "chain vape" for sure, but once we found our "happy place" as far as nicotine goes we have not looked back.

Keep working on it. You can do this, with no regrets.

Amazing story! My step-son has Autism so I completely understand your stress there. It's very impressive that you were both able to quit on your own. So many people pick it back up even after many years. It's wonderful that you found vaping to keep you from lighting up again. We all know it only takes one and it's a hard habit to break. Congrats to you both for overcoming! I hope you are enjoying California.
