I ordered my first mod over the weekend (vamo v3)[along with a Nitecore i4 charger and some AW IMR 18650's and 18350's. It should be here any day now! I've heard people say you're not suppose to leave batteries in the charger after they're charged but I'm wondering if maybe it's not a big deal with this charger? I wouldn't be leaving them in there for long periods of time, usually just over night. /SIZE]

Flux is correct. The Nitecore Intellicharger i2 and i4 both stop charging when finished. The LED lights will stop blinking and show a solid/steady light when finished.

However, not all battery chargers are created equal. To practice the utmost battery safety, remove batteries as soon as they have finished charging. These are after all mechanical devices, and mechanical devices are know to fail. Statistically, most battery incidents happen while charging.

I honestly wouldn't even want a charger that didn't have that kind of precautionary measure. It's good to know that the i2 also works that way, since it's closer to my price range.

I've been reading a lot about batteries,as I don't really like the idea of one blowing up, and a charger that stops automatically was on my list of requirements, alongside top quality AW cells.

Another heads up while we are talking about battery safety. If you carry spare batteries with you, never put them in a pocket or purse where there may be loose coins, a nail clipper, keys, etc. Always carry them in a plastic battery case to keep them away from metalic objects.

The below AW IMR battery exploded (or vented violently) just last week when the novice vapor was carrying spare IMR batteries loose in a pocket of his bookbag. Apparently it came into contact with something metal (the other battery?) which made a completed circuit with the said battery. It quickly discharged to the point where it failed and went into thermal runaway.

What you see is the remains of the metal battery casing, with the red shrink wrap melted away, and the internal parts of the battery mushroomed like an accordian. In hindsight, he should have had the spare batteries in a plastic battery case.

If you're one of those that think they "might" leave batteries in a charger, and are slightly paranoid... "safety charging bags" are available for under $10. The higher quality fire ......ant bags are under $20. Cheap peace of mind... for the forgetful mind. ;-)

Yeah, been eying those too. ADHD can be a problem for remembering things like turning off the stove, or the sink, or taking a battery off of the charger...

Edit: Baditude, Yeah, that's not on my list of experiences I want to have either. I was looking at battery cases, and I saw one on a major vape site that was zippered, and it looked like the zipper might possibly come into contact with both poles of the cell... Suffice it to say, that case is not one I want...

I chain vape. My 18350s are EFest IMR and about 6 months old now. I get about 4 hours of continuous use on a 1.8 ohm coil in my mech gripper. They have been abused as I have over discharged them down to 3 a few times. I use the i4 charger.

BTW EFest are not known to hold up as long as the IWs.

Hopefully that gives you a ballpark.

Yeah, I've not had good luck with the Efest 18350 IMR batteries. I normally use the AW IMRs, and decided to give a couple of Efests a shot. They were fine for a couple of weeks when in rotation with my AW's, but then their capacity began to gradually drop off. I ended up pitching them in a drawer for a rainy day.

I typically get 6 hours use of my AW 18350 IMRs in a Mini Provari using 2 ohm dual coil iClear 30 clearos or 3 ohm single coil Ikenvape cartomizers.

@ desmondsg: You may have a bad pair of AW batteries. It happens, although AW seems to have excellent consistancy battery to battery and is one of the reasons they are so recommended.

From the manual of the Nitecore i4 charger (v1.0)
Ports 1 and 3 and ports 2 and 4 share current flow

Using a single battery in either of those ports can have the capability of pushing 750mA charge into it, which "COULD" actually be TOO much safe charge current, they say if you have low current charge batteries to have two of em on the above ports to divide the current between the batteries

I believe v2.0 doesn't have that problem...and all my AW IMR's don't skip a beat

Systemax i4 (which is the same thing as the Nitecore i4

Seems kind of short. Have you been checking your voltage with a multimeter when it comes off of the charger? How long in hours is a charge lasting you? How old are the batteries?

I do not have a multimeter but i always check the voltage with my SVD when it comes off of the charger and it always reads 4.2volts. I ordered these 2 batteries new from a reputable Singapore store.

I think how long in hours in charge is my batteries lasting me won't be an accurate estimation or reading because different people have different vape styles. I typically take about 3-5 long drags per hour. I mean no matter how often i vape, these 18350 should last me through at least 3mls am i right?

I would be disappointed in that performance, too. As I said above, I was disappointed in the Efests, and went back to using my AWs.

Thanks for the input. I assumed it was a quality charger that would either stop when done charging or I've heard that some will trickle charge to keep them topped off if you leave them on there.
I purposely left a battery in a i4 and watched it occasionally. After fully charging (all lights solid)... it would "wink" the last bar for a few minutes every 6-8 hours... so yes, there is a "maintenance charge" component, much like a automotive "Battery Tender".
