Just received my Ibtanked. I ordered the standarted 19mm tank which came with everything ( including prepunched carto ). Any way, based on youtube videos and baditude's blog ( great information by the way, thank you ) I knew how to fill it up. This is however my first carto and I am not sure if I did something wrong, missed a step, etc.

Ok so I filled up the tank with my juice. Then I put the tank in the thingy that came with it and put the lid on and off for about 10 times. Bubbles were coming out of the holes as expected. I then noticed most of my liquid was absorbed into the carto. I then filled the tank back up. Then placed a few drops of juice into the carto ( i didn't put any in the center hole, just around it ) Then went to vape and it was gurgling and airy. I then left it for a few minutes and this is the problems I have.

1 - It's still very airy
2 - I am not getting the same throat hit as I would with an EVOD

Can someone please advise me on what I may have done wrong and how I can remedy the situation. Thank you in advance

One last thing, the tank does not sit flush on my MVP or spinner. Even with a ring. Is there some part I can buy that will fill the gap?

Well, I figured out part of the problem. I forgot that the carto that came with it was a 3.2ohm. I had my MVP on 3.7 because of my EVODS. Once I placed it at 4.5 volts it started vaping correctly.

However, it is still airy. Does anyone know if they make some kind of a ring that goes between the tank and the MVP? I am guessing this will restrict the air flow.

Also, if anyone has used the THINGY and can comment on what I did please. I might have flooded the carto in the beginning.

Thank you

I don't use the thingy to prime but it does make a great container for travel though. I usually put about 20 drops in mine wait 30 min and put about 10 more and wait another 30 min. Then I put it in the tank and let it sit for about 15 minutes. I do a couple of dry pulls and then its ready to go.

I know it sound like I go to extremes but if you ever had a puff on a carto that is not primed all the way you would be careful too! YUCK!

Thank you for the response. I am curious about 2 things.

1 - If I put for example 10 drops in the carto, fill the tank, let it sit for 1 hour. Will the juice in the tank prime the carto automatically from the punched holes?

2 - I have noticed the taste from the carto is different from an EVOD. I do get more flavor from the carto but it almost seems like I am tasting the actual juice it's self. Not sure if I described it correctly. Is this normal?

Thank you

1 - I don't recommend putting only 10 drops into the cartomizer, or to rely on the polyfill to "wick" additional juice from the tank. A cartotank works on the principle of negative pressure. When you draw on the drip tip, you are creating suction and negative pressure in the cartomizer and the tank. The cartomizer and the tank will seek to balance out the negative pressure by pulling juice from the tank, which is replaced by air from the cartomizer. You can often see an air bubble released into the tank from the cartomizer's holes when you draw from it.

2 - Every juice delivery device is slightly different from another type, even though all of them use some form of heating element in the form of a coil. But differences in the wick materials used (polyfill in a cartomizer, silica string wicks in clearomizers) and placement of the heating element (top coil vs bottom coil, single vs dual coil, etc), even the length of the drip tip can affect flavor or the sensation of heat of the vapor. This is why there are so many types of delivery devices on the market because no particular type suits everyone's preference.

Many people experience more flavor from a cartotank, so you're not alone. I personally feel the polyfill of a cartomizer allows for more flavor than the silica string wicks of a clearomizer. It's also logical that a drip atomizer will provide more flavor than either one of those two because it uses no wick material at all - just juice heated directly on the heating coil for the purest flavor possible.

A drawback to using a dripping atomizer is that because it uses no wick to hold the e-liquid, only a few drops can be used at a time. This can be a major inconvenience. It is also why bottom feeder mods are popular. You get the flavor of a drip atomizer with the convenience of a built-in tank.

The user of a bottom feeder mod sqeezes the juice bottle through an open window of the mod which delivers an amount of juice into a drip well. The vapor then does a primer puff to allow juice to enter into the atomizer. This eliminates the need to carry a juice bottle around with you all the time.

I hope that gives you some new perspective. :)

You can try a tank airflow control adaptor: http://www.madvapes.com/tank-airflow-controller.html
