I've got a smok carto tank at the moment, and whilst there is nothing wrong with it, i really want a better looking carto tank. I can only find one vendor in the UK that sells the kind of tank i am looking for, but it's not quite what i want, so i figured i could do worse than order from IBTanked and get it shipped over (international shipping doesnt seem too expensive) so just had a couple of questions for you guys as so many of you seem to have them. I am thinking of getting just the one, but might get 2.

I would like a larger capacity tank (3ml would be ok but 4 or 5ml would be better but i dont want the 25mm version), so...

1. Do you know the capacity of the standard and XL sized tubes?

2. Do the standard sized tubes take 35mm cartos and the XL tubes 45mm?

3. Bearing in mind i cant really be ordering extra bits and bats in seperate orders, which accessories / add-ons, etc would you recommend i add to my tank purchase?

4. I noticed all the cartos they sell are single coil - does this mean you cant / shouldnt use Dual coil cartos in them?

Cheers in advance and if you have any other tips regarding IBTanked then they too will be much appreciated :)

F.A.Q.

Just in case link doesn't work:

  • 19mm HalfLing = 0.7ml
  • 19mm Standard= 1.5ml
  • 19mm XL = 2ml
  • 22mm HalfLing = 1.2ml
  • 22mm Standard = 3ml
  • 22mm XL = 4.5ml

  • Any XL (45mm) 510 Cartomizer should fit our XL tanks.
  • Any Standard (35mm) 510 Cartomizer should fit our Standard tanks.
  • Mini (19.8mm) Cartomizers, aka HalfLing, will fit our HalfLing Tanks.

3. Colored o-rings. A couple refilling drip tips. Extra washers and o-rings. I like their IBTipsy's

4. Dual coil Cartos work perfectly in them.

Cheers darkgear :)

I think i might have to get myself the 22mm standard and an XL with all the bits you mentioned. I have a tank filling funnel that works great so wont need the refilling driptips although i might throw one in anyway but the extra o-rings and washers are a good idea and i think i might stick a couple of the IBTipsys on too.

Just annoys me that i will get stung with 20% VAT when they hit UK customs

I'll have to look up the capacities, but with the ProVari you are basically looking at the following choices:

19mm (diameter) the standard size takes 35mm cartos, the XL takes 45mm. The 19mm is the same diameter as the indented part of the ProVari. It's about the same as a ProTank.

22mm standard takes 35mm/XL takes 45mm. The 22mm is (≈) same diameter as the ProVari body, so without a ring the base will hang over slightly.

I used 19mm exclusively until recently because I didn't have a ring and wasn't sure what sort of ring to buy anyway. One of my biggest "Duh" moments was when I realized I could buy extra 19mm standard and 19mm XL tubes and switch them around with the 19mm caps I already had. Duh.

The one on the left is a 19mm standard, the one on the right is a 22mm standard with a ring.

Initially, I was using XLs, since that's what I was told to get, but I have since started using standard size. I like how the shorter one looks. I just got a halfling for a mini, but I haven't put it one yet to compare with a standard. I shall post pictures later.

The only thing I consider a must have with a tank is a SYM tank tool. IBTanked sells a similar one, but I prefer the one from Big Daddy (however, since that would another vendor to order from, if you don't want anything else from them get it from IBTanked).

OCD throws in a couple of o-rings with your order, but if you're going to get more, I suggest getting washers too. I've had more trouble with them than the o-rings.

Do you get hit with VAT if you buy within the UK, I can't remember.

Thank you Ocelot :)

I love that stealth black with the black tank on... looks superb and may have to go that route with one of my tanks too. I have a svoe mesto beauty ring as i like the look of the flush 22mm tanks. Darkgear kindly found the capacities for me, so no worries there :)

Is the SYM tool used for filling? I picked up something which i think may be similar over here if so.

Yep 20% on practically everything. It's weird though... some items that are considered essential are taxed at a lower rate, and luxuries at the 20% rate. Weirdly, feminine hygiene products are classed as a luxury!

Stuff from FT doesnt get VAT added though... those friendly chinese folk declare their packages as gifts and therefore VAT free :)

Yes, it's the thing for pushing cartos in and out. I like the SYM because it's shorter than most of the other designs I've seen, and it's ss which I need for my aggressive juice.

I was a bit embarrassed to ask, since I actually lived there for a short time. My ex is English. God my memory is a sieve.

I thought it might be... the one i have got is steel, although i did see another really simple but effective design, which was just a drip tip no more than a couple of cm tall, which sloped down to 0.5 cm or so at the other side, so you can have your carto almost at the top of your tank and just tip your fluid in and it all flows off the carto topper.

Hey, at least you remember which country he came from / you lived in! Which part did you live in?

I didn't care for the look of the drip tip design. I just wanted the tool. You can also use the tool for doing a "Hot Swap" (Shameless plug alert)

The o-rings last a long time. I've been using tanks from IBT tanked for six months and haven't worn one out yet. It isn't necessary to disassemble these tanks very often. I wash mine out once a week without removing the end caps.

Have a back up tank or spare tube on hand. Borosilicate glass will break if dropped to a hard surface. The replacement tubes are reasonably priced.

I love IBTanked. Great value for the price point. Plus, the cap design saves on the overall length of their tanks.

Yeah, the price is another plus point for them. The tank i was looking at here in the UK was about 30% more expensive and had nothing like the level of customisable options that the IBTanked have (basically, you had a choice of about 6 different colours of pyrex and thats it) so even with the VAT added the IBTanked are not only better, but cheaper too.

Ahhh, clever ;)

That tool is actually a completely different design to mine;

Dual Coil Tank Funnel - Cloud 9 Vaping

I've seen pictures of those. I don't understand them (but I haven't really tried to). With the SYM style, the end is inserted into the top of the carto, so when you slide it into the tank the edge of the carto doesn't catch on the o-rings. If you want to fill the tank, you put the SYM into the carto and push it down a little, then pour the juice around it into the tank.

As I pointed out in my DUH moment, you can get different colored tubes and switch them around for variety as long as they are the same diameter. The tubes are inexpensive, it's the caps that are pricy.

Same principle with the funnel - insert it into the end of the carto (the top part will be sticking out of the top of your tank and the bottom part where the holes are will be about 1cm above the top of the carto - pour your juice into it and it is blocked from going into the carto and comes out of the holes to fill your tank.
