Hi ECF members, In this review i take a look at another pod system, this time eleaf's latest offering the iCard. The iCard was supplied for the purpose of this review by eleaf.

Aesthetics and Ergonomics
The iCard comes in boxed packaging and at first glance you can see the nice rubberised paint finish as it is the type of rubberised finished you don't need to feel to know it's there. Some will argue it's not actually technically a pod system as the pod is not replaceable and permanently attached to the device and they have a point. The top 35% of the device is the Black non removable pod and mouthpiece, the bottom 25% is a Black section with safety stamps and venting on the bottom and the middle 40% section has a rubberised finish in the colour of choice. You also get a metallic cover also with a rubberised finish in the chosen colour that fits over the top of the device, while vaping the cover can be put on the bottom section, the cover has a small venting hole so when it's fitted over the bottom it doesn't make the venting holes redundant. I received the Blue but it's also available in, Black, Grey, Orange and Greenery. The front of the device has a central square fire button that protrudes just enough, the back of the device has "iCard" printed centrally and the Eleaf logo on the bottom of the middle section. One side of the device has the micro USB port positioned centrally and the other side has a release switch just below the pod. The rubberised texture feels nice in the hand and the device is also comfortable to vape. There is more to come with the filling method but the device has been well thought out and a nice job done.

The Pod
The Pod has mentioned is not removable but as explained in the next section can be turned using the release switch. The device takes the ID 1.2ohm coil heads, the mouth section pulls off then after priming screw the coil in place finger tight. Inside of the mouth section has to one side what looks like the head of a flathead screwdriver which you use to tighten the coil tighter. The LED's for battery indication are also sealed within the pod and once filled despite being tinted black the pod is quite transparent so i had no problems seeing the juice level.
The Fill System
I really like the filling method used on the iCard, you turn the device upside down and push the small black switch on the side of the device, this allows the pod to turn 180 degrees to reveal 2 quite large (for a pod) filling holes, one either side. The filling holes have a membrane that you push your nozzle through to fill, once you remove your nozzle the membrane seals itself. The device itself also has 2 slightly raised spongy membranes that will line up with the filling holes when the pod is turned and locked back into position, so it's fully sealed. You won't be able to fill using chunky bottles as the device will get in the way but most types of bottles will be fine.
Using the iCard
As already mentioned the device as a physical fire button so doesn't work by simply inhaling. The iCard is the typical 5 clicks to turn the device on and 5 clicks to turn back off, when on simply press the fire button to vape. The device does have safety features such as, over charging protection, over current protection and over discharging protection. Unlike a lot of devices of this type the iCard also has very good battery status indication which is shown by the LED's lighting up certain colours both sides at the bottom of the pod. The LED's work as followed, Green when the battery is between 60% and 100%, Orange when between 30% and 59%, Blue when between 29% and 10% and finally Red when between 0% and 9%.
Performance
Unlike the last couple of pod devices i reviewed that were for the tight MTL vaper the iCard is for those who like a loose MTL drawer, but due to the use of standard style MTL coils yet again very decent flavour and with the iCard also impressive cloud for a pod system. The device is direct output and not regulated like recent pod systems i've reviewed to give a constant voltage, therefore a constant wattage and vaping experience. The drop off was noticed towards the end of the battery life but it was still giving a good vape and the flavour didn't really suffer. The fire button although only slightly protruding is easy enough to find and despite a very short travel is nice and clicky. The device is going to be giving you approx 14W when the battery is fresh and will still be at about 9w when the life goes, the coils are rated at 5w - 15w so the right coil for the device. The device's 650mAh battery seemed to give very good life and charging took less than 90 minutes.
Conclusion
A very well thought out system which is ideal for those who like a loose MTL vape.
