Iclear 16 tank: How do you wire a dual coil?

Hello. I have a few iclear 16's with dual coil wicks. I have the wire and wick material but have not successfully built a dual coil system for these yet. I'm only able to build a single coil sometimes. i notice on the original coil wires there are these plastic tubes, do i need these to ensure the wires don't touch? Is there a way i can just wire up a single coil and still have great vape hits? One of my successful single coil jobs with these iclears didn't yield a very tasteful hit. there was a lot of vaper but the taste was much lower than a dual coil system.
