Hey everyone,

I've been using a Iclear 16 on my innokin iTaste VV for about 3 months now and i've been running into problem after problem with it leaking or the plastic parts parting away from the metal and causing more leaking.

Now i'm not sure if i'm looking in the wrong place but does anyone know of a product to replace the Iclear 16 and preferably it being made of metal with minimal leakage.

Thanks

Zak

I really like these guys. Makes lots of very cool vape. If I had one complaint is that they are a bit messy to refill but I've just gotten in the habit of using a paper towel to catch the condensate and any dripped juice. I just wish they made a bigger version. I'm not a protank fan. I think they are heavy and I can taste the metal.

If you like the way the iClear 16 performs, have you thought about the iClear 30?

Protanks, T3S's, and Evods are all good bottom feeders, and I rarely dabble in clearos, but out of all of those, I've actually found the iClears to perform better as far as flavor and vapor production goes. Any bottom-coiled clearos gives all my juices a plastic taste that just doesn't go away.

But with the Busardo Bump on those Aspire BDC clearos, you know they're going to start churning those out left and right...

I have been using the iclears16's for over 10 months. I have not had any leaking problems. Maybe its your juice too thin or to corrosive. I don't think I've ever had a coil go bad or any other problem. I can run them for 2 weeks to a month before changing the head.

The OP is right. Certain juices will obliterate iClears. Anything heavy in citrus or cinnamon will crack a plastic tank. I know a pepperment herbal tea liquid that eats iClears for breakfast, and I'm talking within minutes to an hour.

I think Baditude said it best, "If you see fogging in your clearo, quit using it and the juice" (I paraphrashed that, his clinical approach would be, "If you like those flavors, get a glass tank.")

Bad, am I putting words into your mouth?

My daughter began vaping this summer, and I've been vaping for a year and a half. I had used cartotanks almost exclusively prior to this, but I felt as a new vapor my daughter would have an easier transition into vaping using the simpler clearomizers than a cartotank, which have a slight learning curve involved. My daughter uses a mechanical AltSmoke BB mod and I use a Provari.

We tried the latest versions of most of the current clearomizers on the market:

Vision Vivi Nova (top coil)
Innokin iClear 16 & 30 (dual top coil)
Kangertech Evod (bottom coil)
Kangertech Protank 1 & 2 (bottom coil)

The Evod and iClear 16 were both nice performers but they both have eGo threading, and we both use a 510 battery device so we found using an adaptor to be a hinderence (the small adaptors are easy to lose). The Protank looks spectacular with shiny stainless steel and pyrex, but it is heavier and not quite the performer that the iClear 30 is. I still use a Protank 1 in my collection, and my daughter is using the Protank 2. Neither of us particularly cared for the Vivi Nova; it didn't stand out in any particular way other than it being an easy top fill tank.

Our combined conclusion was we prefered the iClear 30 over the others. She prefered the easier top fill and the larger juice capacity. I found it's flavor and vapor production to be the closest comparison to my cartotanks. The dual coils produce more vapor than the single coil clearos comparatively, and the 16 tiny wicks supply enough juice to the coil heads to prevent any dry or burnt hits. We both liked the Knucklehead-like mouthpiece which can be adjusted at an angle for more comfortable vaping. If this were made of pyrex, it would be the perfect clearomizer.

So the clear winner for us was the Innokin iClear 30.

To the OP, this tank http://www.ukecigstore.com/accessories/tanks/iSmoka-Magoo-S-RBA-Atomizer-New is not a clearomizer, but an RBA, an advance juice attachment.

To my buddy Rocketpunk, yes what you said about Cinnamon & Citrus Flavors is completely correct. To read more about this reaction to certain flavors on polycarbonate tanks, read this blog I wrote:

The only time I ever had a problem with my iClear 30 was with a heavy-on-the-citrus menthol juice. But in the end, after three heads being swapped out, I determined it was the first two heads that were bad. The third one I tried works perfectly. Also, always be sure the o-rings on the bottom and top of those endcaps are positioned correctly.

Other than that one mishap, I have had zero leakage and very, very, VERY minimal dry or burnt hits on the 30. EDIT: I also keep the tank constantly full. I hear people complaining all the time about how they have to swish and slosh their tank around to get a good hit when it gets low. I just kinda sigh and say, "Just keep it topped off." However, if you're low on juice and that's the only way to get a good hit, I understand.

Like Baditude said, I had very little success with a genuine Vision Vivi Nova. That thing was forged on a failure anvil. If, however, you like it's design and concept, you will be exceedingly happy with an iClear 30.

While I am completely biased to carto tanks, I encourage newer users to choose clearos over carto tanks.

"When you are ready, young grasshoppa, I will teach you the art of the carto tank."

Not to derail, but Carto's and quality tanks have made my life so easy. Drippers to CE4's to i clear's to evod/protanks to RBA's....to Carto tanks

Im in my happy place now..... but we are all sooo different.

I nor my daughter had any leaking problems with any of the clearomizers that we tried. We did not use any of the tank-cracking flavors, or if we did it was in the Kanger Protanks (pyrex). Are you certain you are filling these correctly, and not drawing too hard while you vape? Vaping has a different draw technique than smoking does. You will get better results with a long, gentle draw. Too hard of a draw will flood the atomizer.

Occasionally "pipe primer puffs" are needed for no vapor production. Remember how pipe smokers prime their pipes. Two or three short, quick puffs.

To be perfectly honest, we both have been using the original coil heads in the iClear 30 and Protanks for nearly 2 months now. We do a cleaning of the tanks and the wicks about every 3 weeks with running water, allow to dry and then re-use. Good as new.

This may help. I really think its all about the flavor. I have used iClear 16 for a year and a half and can't think of having any leaks except a few times it got loose where you screw the cap into (Mostly vaping Dekang and Hangsen). Also, Innokin has recently given the iClears a slight redesign with a sturdier neck, where the cap fits more snuggly. So I haven't had the issue again yet. Now my wife has had a few iClear 16's leak on her, but she occasionally smokes clove. Also discussed in the above link is to not let your tank run dry.

The iClear 16's do have o-rings on the base that can get ripped or shredded quite easily if you're not gentle when swapping out wicks or cleaning. That will most definitely cause leaking.

I met a person once who thought he was supposed to remove the rubber grommet from the replacement wick and didn't understand why nothing worked. Oh, how we all learn. "Fire is hot? I don't believe you."
