How about a PV built in a travel mug?

Please excuse if this idea has been previously discussed. I'm a newbie. I'm not sure if I'm ready to dive in and try to create this myself, but any ideas on how to do it would be appreciated. Better yet, any experienced modders want to volunteer?

Advantages:

1) Doesn't look out of place. Use in a crowd, at games, office, etc...
2) Lots of room for big batteries.
3) A little vapor won't attract attention... hopefully, will just look like steam from hot coffee.
4) Fits cupholder for use in car.

I was at my daughter's HS volleyball game the other night, sneaking a puff here and there. I was sneeking because I realized that people in the stands on the other side of the court would not know I wasn't smoking and I did not want to get reported and make a scene or have to explain myself to school officials. That's when it hit me. I need a PV that doesn't look like a cigarette, or look out of place either.

At first I thought of a paper drink cup with an all white mini e-cig in place of the straw. After a little more thought I decided that the perfect vehicle for this would be a travel mug (or maybe a sports bottle).

Now if you wanting to build something yourself you would want to recess the atty so it's not as noticable. The rest is pretty easy, decide what size batteries you would like to use and get, or make, a holder for them. Decide what type of switch and where you would like to put it. Design a way of holding your battery connector to hold your atty. That's the basics... if you want to get more creative that's up to you. Great Idea!! Would you mind if I had a go at trying to build something? The credit would all go to you!!

Hi Carlos! By all means, if you like the idea go for it.

And, thanks for the tips. Like I saud, I'm a newbie. I can figure out the battery situation easy enough, I guess... same for mounting the atty. The most puzzling part is switching... like where do you get a switch and how do you wire it so it's in-line with the battery>atty connection? I'm guessing there are screw-mount push-button switches that would be easy enough to mount by drilling a hole in the side of the cup. But, where do you find such a thing and what specs are required?

Maybe best if let any experienced modder like yourself play with the idea and then follow your lead.

You first might want to look in the Battery mods section and start reading. There's tons if information there to help you in your mods. A good one to start out with would be http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/18409-how-build-nicostick.html
It's a nice simple mod and you can learn how to do your wiring and where to get parts. Believe me once you get started in making mods it's going to be hard for you to stop...LOL
Have fun

Great thread. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! It actually looks pretty simple when it's laid out like that.

I think I could just use that same battery box and wiring plan with the switch and atty mounted to the cup instead of integrated. Use some foam inserts inside the cup to secure the batt box. As for mounting the atty, ideally I think I'd just drill the cup top and put a rubber grommet in the hole sized to make a snug friction fit. That way you could slide the atty up and down according whether you want it protruding like a straw or down closer to the top so it looks more like taking a sip off the cup when you take a drag.

I'll have to make sure there is enough excess wire running to the atty to allow for screwing the top on the cup without ripping connections out (though I guess you could also use a cup with snap-on lid).

Also, my switch placement will be on the side of the cup, but I couldn't decide whether I'd want it positioned for thumb or finger operation. However, it occured to me that most coffee mugs with screw tops are set up so that the sipping hole in lid ends up in one of two opposite orientations, depending on where you start screwing it on. The lid always ends up in the same place, or exact opposite... so if its a mug with handle the sipping hole falls in the correct position for left or right-hand use. Not sure if I'm expaining that very well, but it means the switch placement can be alternated thumb or finger according how you screw the lid on, assuming switch is positioned correctly to start with... don't have to decide which up front.

Very slick idea!!
And with that amount of room, even Li-Poly batt would work.
Add to it a small bottle and thumb pump for juice and I'm thinking over time!!!
Except.....where do I put my coffee now?????? :)
LOL Clearly you'll have to carry a little vial shaped like a cigarette but filled with espresso.

See now your thinking like a modder... keep thinking like that and you'll do very well. Just let your imagination run wild and you will get far.

Here ya go...I velcroed my Nico-Stick to the lid, on the ledge next to where the atty comes out of the box, sent the atty through the hole and with a little pressure from my bottom teeth, it works! The pressure causes the button to bump against the wall of the mug and fire.

You should put another tube through the lid that opens into a bigger tube that opens into the cup. Then you can stuff the large tube with tissue and take huge hits and blow it back into the second tube which would absorb most of the vape into the tissue.

You could get away with some serious vaping then.

Just run a straw or tube to the bottom of the cup. Vent the lid and put a HEPA filter just under it... or let the foam I mentioned for securing batteries act as the filter.
