I think the MAIN reason for people to recommend the ego.....is that the op asked for the best kit.

Op, unless I just missed it, you never stated that you wanted something cigarette sized, so getting annoyed with people that are recommending it is.....unfair. Keep in mind that most pv's, although close, are larger than a standard cigarette.

I, like you, wanted something cigarette sized, but after going through a total of 7 batteries in one evening of drinking, and averaging 3 battery changes in each shift at work, I gave up on my 510 kit and built a large battery mod that looks like I'm smoking a 1980's style cell phone.

Perhaps you won't be annoyed at the constant battery changing and charging, I hope you aren't and that your first pv purchase will be your last. However, you would be in the minority. Only time will tell.

I agree, the eGo/Riva is a fine choice. My 510 made me HATE auto batts. The KR8 mega batt is a bit long, but it does last me most of the day. Also, the SmokeStik cigarettes are VERY fine. And I tend to use them the most. The cartos are great, and the batts are 3.4v loaded(as per Scottbee's test), and I get much better flavor out of it than my eGo. On the other hand, the eGo is great for the long batt life, and I am glad to have it in my collection. I like the fact that I can hold my SS abd KR8 while doing tassks though, and I always have to pocket my eGo. Just my :2c:

Anyway, I intended to post a question about which battery (eGo or KR808D-1 Mega) has the longest battery life and the best throat hits, and then I found this thread. I need to buy something much better for the times when I'm not home and not in my car, since it looks like the two kits I bought three weeks ago are about dead (due to constant vaping and they're just plain inferior). My main concerns are: long battery life (like several hours for one battery), throat hits, and uses cartomizers. It sounds like the eGo is what I need to buy, but I would like to get opinions from the "experts" who have used both.
Check the mAh on the batteries. The higher it is, the longer it should last. I believe a standard 510 battery is about 350mAh. eGos have two size batteries -- 750mAh and 900mAh. I don't know about the mega 808.

LowThudd - Do you know why there's a difference in flavor among the different brands of batteries? Or does that depend on the cartomizers? Or is the SmokeStik's flavor better (due to a different carto?), but the battery doesn't last very long? Sorry, I'm a little confused. I'm probably gonna go with the eGo, but if the flavor's bad, I should consider that, too. Thanks for your replies.

510=180mAh
510 mega=280
KR8=280mAh
KR8 mega=380mAh
eGo=650mAh
Riva=750mAh
eGo mega=900mAh
eGo mega XL=`1000mAh
Hello016=1350mAh

One that hasen't been mentioned is the THE ELEGANT EASY. Basically an eGo clone(probably Riva) w/ a KR808d-1 batt connector. A bit pricey, but from the reviews it is well worth it. I plan on replacing my KR8 mega batts eventually w/ one.

Combination of the well made carto and the fact that the SS batts are 3.4v loaded as opposed to the eGo at 3.1v loaded. Voltage, and 3.4ohm cartos that are well made.

"Having owned both ego and 808 mega I can say the ego lasts way longer. A full day for me on one batt."

Thanks, Zenfrogs! That's what I've been reading from others, and I just really want to be sure before I make the decision and purchase. Have already spent way too much money on this new obsession so far.

So, if I have two eGos and play Keno for 24 hours at a local casino, I should be good, huh?

Oh, the batt life. The beta tested PitBull at 250mAh getts between 150 and over 200 draws(as reported by testers like myself). Not too shabby. Only problem is, you'll have to wait for it. W/ a lower resistence atty/carto(2.5ohm I believe), it only gets 120 draws. The standard SS batts get @100-120 draws w/ a 3.4ohm carto.

Lower voltage = less flavor? Doesn't make sense to me, but I'll take your word for it. Thanks!

Yes, it does. Everyoner has a sweet spot, mine is appearantly 3.4v. Some people go w/ mods to upwards of 7.4v. There is even a 7v eGo clone out there. I'll stick w/ 3.1-3.7.

No, I guess it makes sense, but I think my problem is I'm ignorant of the difference between mAhs and voltages.

mAh is the capacity of the batt. Think "Amp hours". Voltage and resistence(ohms) relate to the watts of power in the coil. Which is why it effects taste.
