I've always had a lousy sense of timing. Truly. If I worked and saved for something for months, when I finally got it, it was popular for about two more days before everyone else moved on to the next great thing I couldn't afford.
So it's not surprising that I decided to quit a thirty year smoking habit two months before hosting my daughter's wedding.
Besides the fact that we were expecting 230+ wedding guests, I was also having major construction done on my house (two bathrooms and a powder room gutted and rebuilt along with living room and dining room) and that construction wasn't completed until days before the wedding. I had also agreed to cook for about fifty people a few days before the wedding and cook for over a hundred people at my house for a post-wedding party the day after the wedding. What was I thinking?
The good news--not only did everything turn out beautifully, but I didn't slip and light up an analog during the whole stressful time. I was exhausted, overloaded with details and problems, running from early morning until very late at night, surrounded by people who make me crazy under the best of conditions (his family and my family) and yet, vaping totally got me through without even a desire to open that stale pack I have sitting in a drawer. As a bonus, it was a lot easier to slip into a bathroom and vape during all the festivities than it ever would have been to find a place to have an analog. Plus, I smelled like my perfume instead of cig smoke.
So I haven't been around to help newbies for a few weeks because I've been in wedding mode, but I'm back and ready to offer support and tips whenever I can. Thanks to all who helped me get to a place where vaping got me through one of the most stressful times of my life.
One down, three more daughters to go. Yikes.
Analog free since May 4th.
