Yes i burn the wick and wire with a blue flame torch.
I don't think you should burn any wick material except for stainless, even by dry burning, let alone with a torch. That by itself can cause the IGO-L to taste burnt. You may also have hot spots. With some juice on the wick at the coils, pulse the power, holding longer each time. If you see any red, while the wick is still wet with juice, stop and gently brush the area on the coil where it turned red with a small screw driver or other metallic instrument. Repeat until it there's vapor coming from all over without any red spots.
The IGO-L design can be a little fidgety in the beginning, but once you get it set up properly it should work well for quite some time. It's fairly easy to rinse to change flavors, but once again, I wouldn't dry burn much. Maybe pulse a little to evaporate water after a rinse, but that's it. In many cases I don't even bother with a rinse. I just add a different flavor when a previous one is getting a little dry. This is fine as long as the first flavor isn't too dominant.
