I set up my IGO-L with hybrid silica/mesh wick with a little mesh wrapped around the wick at contact with the coil so i dont burn the silica. My coil reads 1.0 ohm and i use it on a mech mod.

I usually use it to drip Boba's, put 10 drops or so right onto the coil. The first 2-3 hits are amazing, flavors are intense. But after that the flavor seems muted.

Also there seems to be some sort of condensation building up. Whenever i take my drip tip out i notice some dark, gunky condensation around the end where it goes into the dome. On the floor of the IGO there seems to be the same substance too.

Is there a way to fix this? Should i change my wick material?

The mesh is most likely not fully saturated after those first few pulls. I have never done a hybrid wick, but I imagine the silica isn't making good contact with the mesh causing this lack of wicking. If it tasted metallic, I would say it was a loose coil or "hot leg", but you didn't mention that in the description.

I use an all mesh wick, straight, hollow and thin like a straw, from the ground post to the bottom of the other side. Wicks up all the juice from the well, and if needed just turn it to saturate. If you have a mech mod, maybe you can use an unoxidized wick. Let me know if it works, I was thinking of getting a mech mod to use unoxidized wicks.

There is always condensation/liquid on the top cap when I take it off, which is normal, but I usually never take the top cap off to refill.

The mesh was 20mm x 20mm, wrapped around a 1.6mm drill bit, and adjusted to fit in the coil. I attached the coil to the post while still on the 2mm drill bit by adjusting the height of the coil so the "legs" were at the same level of the screw on the post, leaving no extra wire to cause that "hot leg". When attached, the "top leg" goes on the positive center post, and the "under leg" goes on the negative post, giving the coil that angle to allow for the wick to reach the bottom. I also drilled the airhole to 1/16" and aligned it to the bottom center of the coil by adjusting it to the side of the negative post. The mesh takes a little more effort, but lasts weeks when setup correctly.

I make quite a few wikicoils for igo like you describe. No gunky issues. I think its that boba's bounty.

my experience with mesh in the igo-l is same as yours. you gotta wrap more mesh around your silica. the mesh stays hot and more than likely is burning the juice that mutes the flavor.

i personally didn't like the hybrid mesh/silica wicks. i find it even more inconvenient to have to drip more often. the same amount of drops go a hella lot longer on my cotton wicks than silica or hybrid wicks. imo
