I've had my Igo-L for past 8 days now. It was working fine with several builds.

But now when I make a nano coil or micro coil build for it the positive post (center post?) is smoking even when the coil is heating from the center outwards.

Should I just throw this one away?

Even a simple silica wick build that almost never goes wrong just doesn't taste right (not harsh like a hot spot, but more chemical) so I'm assuming (although it's hard to tell with a silica wick if the post is smoking or just the silica) I've broken the thing.

Additional Info that might matter: all builds were at 1.5-1.8 ohms and single coil. mod i'm using is an itaste svd.

Edit: I've tried to find threads on "burning posts" but haven't found one specifically for the Igo-L or anything for an rda with burning/smoking posts.

I really doubt it's broken. The only part that could be 'burning' is the plastic insulator in the deck around that center metal post. If that get's hot enough to smoke I bet you would smell plastic burning. You should also see black on the surface.

If that is not happening and I really doubt it is, I suggest you take out the wick and see if you can make it happen then. If it does happen you should be able to see where it's coming from. If it doesn't, it's coming from the wick.

Good luck with it :thumb:

Good news is the insulator doesn't look black. I did take out the wick and it's coming out of where the screw and post meet. The top of the post, and this is when i only have a coil on it and no wick. I twisted some cotton and tried to dry out the inside of the post but the smoke still comin out from there.

When the positive post acts like a coil the insulator for the positive/center post is melted.

I think ImThatGuy is right. There must be a very slight connection between the positive post and the deck, or it would not heat up internally.

If it were me I would consider the atty a loss. Not worth the risk of a full short developing and possibly venting your battery. If you do go this way, you might pull out the positive post and see what's actually going on in there. I doubt there will be any way to fix it, but you would know what really happened.

UPDATE: Welp I realized It was being caused by tightening the screws down on the kanthal too much.

It started happening on my nimbus where I saw little amounts of smoke coming from where the kanthal and screw would come in contact, and loosening it up a little bit and tightening it just to the point where it fits snug stopped the smoke problem.

Decided to pick up my IGO-L and tighten it the same way and all is fixed.
