Need to call myth busters on the swelling cotton wick. Many, if not everybody, says wick expands when wet. I went as far as laying cotton wicks on a ruler. Cotton ball wicks and cotton yarn. Drenched them in VG. They had zero visible expansion after 2 days of soaking.

Silica expands, Cotton does not. I think the thought is to prevent wick builders from overstuffing their coils with wick that is too dense. It is a balancing act of getting enough cotton to keep the coil going with not obstructing the flow of the juice. I use organic cotton balls from Walgreens by the way, I never boil them and they taste great right out of the 4 dollar bag.

Peroxide is just water with extra oxygen. H2O2. It turns to water and evaporates over time, cotton is perfectly safe as is so long as it's organic. The only thing boiling it does is introduce contaminants and chemicals from the water unless it's distilled water, then it only makes a difference in how fluffy it is. Boiled cotton is more fluffy than unboiled. I use cotton straight out of the bag and so does several other people I know. No funny tastes, no health issues.

Thanks so much. Some people give me a flogging when I say my cotton wicks don't expand.
My cotton balls don't expand either. Ready for this. They actually shrink when boiled. Hardhat on.

If it tastes good vape it. Got 99% head start vs analog.

Coil size has nothing to do with taste.

Here's a couple things to look at:

Clean the IGO inside and out, with a strong detergent. It may have machining oil on it.

Did you boil the cotton?

What settings and device are you using?

What liquid are you vaping? If it's over 12mg, that could make it taste very harsh.

What do you mean specifically about the 12 mg being harsh? 12 mg of what ingredient?

12 mg refers to the amount of nicotine in the juice. More nicotine, more "throat hit" or harshness you'll experience. Also, higher PG levels also give more throat hit.
