Bought myself my first rda earlier this week, an Igo w, after a week or so of rebuilding PT2s. Have had no trouble at all with micro coils in my PT2s but for some reason with the Igo w the resistance will randomly read at like 6ohms when it is intact only around ~2.6. If I take a toot off it it comes down to ~2.6 where it should be when I check it afterwards but every once in a while, tends to be after I take the cap off or when I first start using it, it'll fluctuate quite a bit between 4 and 6ohms.

This is only my first attempt with the Igo w and I can't figure out what I did wrong that the readings on it would vary so much. I had some issues with the screws when trying to get it setup where the coil would be locked in place and then loosen up somehow while fiddling with it, only issue obvious to me when I was setting it up.

Other than the ohms coming out weird, it vapes great though; nice and cool and tasty with a lot more vapor then I was able to get so far with my PT2s.

I used 30g Kanthal wrapped I think 10-11 times around a 1/16 drill bit and am using cotton if that helps. Only 1 coil.

Any incite into what I may have done wrong would be much appreciated, I plan on rebuilding it later tonight for some more practice and would prefer some more consistency. Thanks in advance!

I have had a similar experience in ohm changes too but on the Protank. I found the the positive connector wasnt making good contact with the positive post on the unit. Made a minor adjustment to the post of the mod and it now gives me a good reading each time. ( I took a dental pick and gently pulled the + connection post upwards).

If the coil loosens in its mount the resistance will vary...It needs to be TIGHT on the posts!!!
IF the posts themselves are loose, try CAREFULLY tapping them on the top -- use a small Phillips screwdriver and tack hammer to "pean" the posts in place....just a couple of LIGHT, QUICK taps....
If there is STILL movement of the posts or mounts...it may be time to order up another....IGO products are generally very good quality, but a "lemon" can show up anytime, anywhere...I've had good luck with my 3 IGO-L's....
BTW.....10/11 wrap 30ga. kanthal on a 1/16" arbor SHOULD yield ~ 2.5 ohms...I get ~2.0 with a 9/10 wrap using the same setup....
Good Luck!
Happy (vaping) Trails!

I was able to get it to stay at an even reading for a while by doing that but this morning it is back at it.

There is a short. Make sure the coil is not touching the deck. Keep the set screws tight but not so tight that it cuts through your wire. That has happened to me before causing a bad connection. Whenever my ohms fluctuate like that I just pull the coil and make a new one.

I made sure it wasn't touching anywhere. I'm having issues with getting the screws down tight right now, I don't have a screw driver small enough to be effective, going to pick one up today hopefully, I have to pretty much screw them down by hand with my big ol' fingers.

I didn't realize a short could cause the resistance to read higher than intended, thought it would make it come out a lot lower; good to know!

The post on mine are fine, it's just I can't quite get the screws down good and snug with the screw drivers I have available at the moment. Hopefully I'll find a suitable one today that'll get the job done!

Thanks for the responses everyone. If anyone else has any more info, please feel free to share.
