Hey, I've been lurking around here for about 6 months now and vaping about the same. My current set ups are a SID with Vision Xjet BDC, MVP2 with Aspire Nautilus, and a Vision spinner with Xjet. Over the past month or two I've been looking a lot into rebuildables and making my own coils because I seem to run through them. I've recently bought an IGO W3, 28 gauge kanthal, and some cotton. My first question I suppose is that can I use this W3 on a VV/VW device or only a mech mod? Reason I ask is because my first coil I made was 1.6 ohms. I said ok that's good to start. Let me put some juice on it and try this bad boy out. I put it on my SID and set to 12 watts and was noticing the air flow was basically all air as I hit this thing. I know the airflow is adjustable on the W3 but when I say I pulled this thing and got only air I mean like only air. Not much vapor at all. btw, I only made a single coil in the W3. I also tried it on my MVP2 and got the same results. I'm wondering if I'm just not setting the VV/VW high enough to make this thing give me proper vapor. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you.

I can send some pictures when I get home. I've tried to shut down the airflow as much as possible with no desired result. If my coil isn't wrapped tight enough would that have something to do with it? I've been watching a lot of videos from the guy Rip Trippers on youtube and basically trying to mimic how he builds his coils minus having the torch but I light the crap out of the coil with a lighter

Hey Tim. Well to start, going for the W3 as your first rebuildable was a bit of a jump ahead considering the quad could capability but nonetheless, plenty of potential there for you to play later down the road. :2cool: First, check your contacts. By contact, I mean make sure that your rda is twisted on to your device well and making good contact. Make sure that your screws in the atomizer are nice and snug and making good contact with your wire. If you are good there, dry fire it WITHOUT the cotton (cotton WILL burn) and make sure the coil glows from the inside out. If you can check the boxes on all of the above then you are not using enough wick. Be careful with cotton though. Use too much cotton and you will get a dry/burnt hit because the wick will choke the coil. Also, no, you do not have to have a mech to get good performance from a rebuildable. 1.6 ohms at 12 watts is roughly 4.4 volts which should be more than enough to get some good vapor production. More airflow is good for vapor production on rda's so having it wide open should be giving you more vapor, not less. I hope all this helps and Good luck. Report back later with some pictures and results if you can and I'll do what I can to help.

Here is a very quick 2.1 ohm coil I made...strapped for time right now but I know I have to find a way to wrap tighter. photo1a.jpg

The igo-w3 is very airy, it has too many air holes, even closed they push in too much air.
I would have to say it would have to be dual or quad setup, a single coil just doesn't cut it.

Making a quad build that could be used with a regulated mod means every single coil has to be 4.8 ohm or more and thats a problem too.
Ive got my igo-w3 working with a quad nano build at 0.5 ohm on my mech.

Everything checks out and the coil does glow from the inside out. I'm thinking the user who said single coil in this RBA is useless because of how airy it is.

Yes, when I have some time I'm going to try a dual coil and see how that works out. Or maybe get a diff RDA

What wrap it around is up to you bud. Whether it's a drill but or a precision screwdriver, it all comes down to the tweezers and the torch. Hehe

Yea, I've been using a small screwdriver. I probably need a torch because I've been using a bic lighter. Bought one torch and it was .... and didn't even work. Any recommendations?

I picked up one of those off ebay a ways back. Had the same issue duel coil build all good but almost no vapor. Took it to a local shop they rebuilt the coils/wicks a few time and same issue. We just decided that clone was bad based on where the air holes lined up. My experience was exactly like the OP described. Never could get it to work so I junked it and moved on.

Hey Tim, if you really wanna make the 1.6 ohm work on the w3, I would suggest stuffing your whole deck with cotton and use them as plugs on the holes. Yes, it will be a waste of cotton and maybe juice, but this is probably the logical thing to do. Since you are running single coil, you wanna cover those other holes so you only have air flow below your coil. Either that or use silica wicks to cover the holes, but I dunno if that will work or not.

I think I'm just going to junk it and try a diff RDA or maybe RBA. Any recommendations ladies and gents? For a beginner to rebuilds.
