Just thought I'd post it here even though it's elsewhere on the forum.. since this lays things right at V4L's doorstep...

Bill excerpt:

(a-6) Nicotine delivery products. No product containing or delivering nicotine intended or expected for human consumption, or any part of such a product, that is not a tobacco product as defined by 21 U.S.C. 321(rr) shall be distributed or sold in this State or to consumers in this State unless it has been approved or otherwise certified for legal sale by the United States Food and Drug Administration for tobacco use cessation, harm reduction, or for other medical purposes, and is being marketed and sold solely for that approved purpose.

From: Illinois General Assembly - Bill Status for SB3174

It's already passed the senate and is in the house...

This wording is a bit odd....

shall not be distributed or sold in the State or to consumers in the State

Pennsylvania has a law that has similar bizarre wording in reference to fireworks. It is illegal to sell fireworks (with permit) in PA to PA residents, but legal to sell to out of state residents. Typical goofy law, I know. Do internet sales really have a transaction point? I guess we wait to see how the lawyers sort it out.

This website needs some lawyers to join up. Getting tough to wade through all this.

I just called my local rep and tried to explain to the person on the phone the success I have had with PVs. Granted, this is only my second week using them, but nothing I've tried has worked more than a day. I understand the need to regulate an addictive substance, but out right banning them without any real assessment is ridiculous.

I suggest anyone who lives in IL call their local state rep. and senator to voice their opposition. My phone call lasted maybe a minute, but if enough people call it can really add up.

Great idea for you il people. Also nicotine is about as dangerous as caffeine (or do I've read) if this is true, regulate it to the same extent as caffeine.

Oh I'll be calling ... and writing ... and calling again. Exactly what it is they think they're doing is what I want to know.

In reading one of the linked statutes, I discovered that I am a CRIMINAL. OMG, I gave rolling papers to one of my co-workers (he's RYO, just like I used to be) and evidently that gives the state the right to fine me for giving another adult a product that he can legally buy.

Please someone tell me that this is all just a bad dream ... I really am beginning to think that those in power in this country have forgotten all of their history lessons and the Tea Party may have the right idea.

Jan  :sneaky:  :?:
