I'm not sure if it's an option on the kit you're ordering, but if it is...
I would suggest getting one manual, one automatic (again, not sure on what you're looking at getting, but if it comes with multiple batts [which it should] and you have the option of getting both) getting one of each allows you to try both out for yourself. I got a kit with autos, turns out I like the manuals much better. As others have said the manuals have no auto cutoff, & are sealed.
Agreed - I did the same thing, got one of each... and like most people, I wound up preferring the manuals. But, I will say when I started vaping, the autos felt more natural because they were more like what I was used to from analogs... but after a couple of days I found that I was getting better drags off the manual, and holding down a button didn't seem like such a big deal at all. Now it's second nature (just like smoking was), and I don't even think about the button.
And of course, wouldn't you know it, my wife tried both ... and preferred the auto batteries.
So yeah, if you have the option I would suggest getting one of each.
If the kit only comes with one - I would probably say go ahead and get the manual because odds are that's what you're going to prefer if you're like most of us here.
OH - and by the way, this was definitely not a stupid question.
I had the same question myself when I started vaping just a month ago or so... and many others have too. Dont' worry about it, there is a slight learning curve. Feel free to ask... it'll help ensure you get the most out of vaping and hopefully allow you to kick the analogs for good.
Besides...give it a couple of weeks and you'll be answering a lot of these questions yourself.
