I drip one drop into my atty and a few on my cart every time I refill. I've had my atty for about 5 months. It'll truly break in good about 24 to 36 hours after you first start using it. Don't let your cart go completely dry, that could be some of your burnt taste. I have put mine in an ultrasonic twice and blow it out about once a week or when I change flavors. I never boil or use cleaners on my attys. Some have said to start out high on your nic liquid. I strongly advise against that personally. buy the higher strength, but find some place to get propolene glycol(sp) and mix. I started out with a 24 mcg and was giving myself vertigo and having to lie down the first week or so. It was almost enough to make me give it up. I buy 18 now and mix it to about an 8mcg liquid. I use the 18 full on if I feel like I need an extra kick.
Good luck !

I think the consensus is more than 2-3 drops on the atty will flood it. If you hear a gurgle, or a boiling sound it is flooded. If you are dripping, put 2 drops on the atty (one on each side), put on an empty cart (with no fill) and puff away. Personally I see little difference between dripping and using a full cart other than the carts last longer. I only drip when I am making new flavors. I start with a 6 drop test flavor (3 nic juice, 2 PG, 1 flavor), then if I like it I will make a 1 dram batch.
