Ala, LOTS of folks are scared of chickens, so don't feel bad. :) All my chickens have gotten old and died and we had so much going on that we decided not to replace them, at least for the time being. Only one we have left is Cogburn, the rooster, and he is a demon from HELL!!! Only person he doesn't attack is DH -- I just avoid him, but every once in a while I get tired of dodging him and whack him a good one and he leaves me alone for a while! (Don't worry, anyone, I don't hurt him -- I whack him with an aluminum pan that makes a lot of noise and scares him without hurting him)

Ala, there is NOTHING that subs for growing up with horses -- they've been practically my life's blood -- but a PERCHERON?!?! Maybe you could talk your DH into something a little smaller, at least to start!
