I'm doing it wrong but I am patient and determined to make this work...I KNOW I am in for a real treat.

Surely the problem is too much wicking.

26 gauge Kanthal, about 8 wraps (sorry I forgot exactly...so used to just wrapping and coming out where I want it) to .5 ohms. Max VG or 70/30 VG/PG liquids. Both medium airholes open on RM4. Surely I can get flavor and more vapor with only a single coil than I'm getting now. Or am I just too used to the flavor and vapor I get from my usual dripper (CLT V2 using same build)?

Please help me....

The rm4 puts out some pretty intense flavor, like others have said, try a little less wick in there (which looks like you already did). Also, if you want more vapor, or a little more airflow, you can change it to the largest airhole and just close it off a little bit to your liking (where the vapor and flavor are good for you).

The mentality of wicking for dripping is different from that of wicking for squonking. It's common for new squonkers to use too much cotton, because they're used to the extra cotton benefitting their dripping experience. But it subtracts from the BF experience. Less = more, fresh juice on demand, love liberty and cosmos...

i run a CLT with duals. And Atomics. Why are you running the Atomic with both holes open when you have a single coil?

Turn the top sleeve and run it as a single - it has 3 hole positions in it. The air flow control has only 2 lots of 3 holes, so you'll see what i mean.

The CLT must be run as a dual - it's what it is. It's also a big atty compared to a 19mm, so not running duals in that is a travesty.

Bit too much wick maybe, but nothing lethal from the look of it.

I just did exactly that, JamezC. That's what I end up doing with almost all my RDAs. The medium airholes are too tight and the largest airholes are too loose, so I find my little Goldilocks zone by slightly closing off the latter.

Just ordered two 60mls of Strawnilla with the Nicoticket BOGO sale. Haven't ordered that flavor yet and it's been an age since I ordered from them. I googled some ECF reviews of Strawnilla and what did I see on one of the first links: a Reonaut saying how awesome that juice and a REO go together. :)

Ive got two CLT V2s running single coils...maybe I'll try duals again. I did try them recently but ... Lol, probably my fault that I didn't notice a huge difference.

I did also follow your airhole suggestion, SuperTrunker, so I will use it that way for awhile until I decide to tackle duals again. :) I appreciate the reminder about the one airflow hole open for one coil. I get used to doing things "my way" and need to remember to try other ways.

FTS -- absolutely -- a great deal of improvement using much less cotton.

You seem just as picky as me when it comes to airflow  I like it somewhat open with just a little bit of restriction, not too airy, or too restricted lol.

Is it working better for you?

Yes it is, JamezC... :) Right now I've got some Looper running through it. I'm tearing through juice in this thing, but that's par for the course for me.

O/t but I showed the kids at my vape shop my REO and now two of them want one. They'd never seen one before. :)

That's good to hear! And it seems like my juice consumption has went up more since using reos...maybe because I can't put them down lol.

It's crazy that reos are still pretty unheard of to a lot of people, even though they've been around for years.

If you run single coils and your goal is flavour, then you'll be closing the air off on an Atomic.

Mine just got stolen by HRH, 2 weeks ago, and she runs a medium top cap hole and then chokes it off with the AFC.

I tired of cotton and all that stuff ages ago and my wicks are now RxW, or ReadyWick. I just don't have the time to fart about re-wicking things daily.

I wish that ready wick stuff worked for me.. I tried like a dozen times reading on here and nothing worked good enough. Using 2mm. Always seemed like not enough wick to hold enough juice for my normal hit.

Glad it's going for ya now Astron. I do hope you've seen superxdrifters videos on youtube. Good how to videos on coil and wicking.

The perfect amount of wick is where you can pull it threw the coil easily with one hand while still slightly getting some resistance.
