Hey Guys,

Normally I would do a search on this but I'm leaving the house in a few and need to know if I screwed up so I don't blow up my eGo...or my face for that matter

My cartos arrived today! (yay)! Using the instructions that were posted in my intro thread, I used the supplied syringe and slowly filled it. Or so I thought. I must of pushed the liquid in too hard/fast and of course it didn't look overfilled because it drained down the middle of the carto. I didn't notice till I saw something dripping from my hand

anyway, I clean it up real good and attach it to the battery. After my vaping session, I took it off the battery to top the carto, and there was a little liquid in the battery. I got a little worried obviously since I don't know any better but thought I'd ask you guys if my battery is still safe to use or if it will blow up in my face, LOL!
If that's a 'no' then will it harm my battery at all?

Also, when I topped it off, I slowly added one drop at a time while tipping it making sure the drops went in on the side. I still had a little liquid come out of the bottom which I think is normal. I rolled it between my fingers to evenly distribute as well.

Other than that concern, my liquid tastes better with a carto vs. the cart & atty. Will be saving the atty for emergencies only. I don't have to top it off in the middle of a session. I just finish and top it off for my next one. Thanks for recommending that I switch.

As always, thank you for your help :)

What kind of cartomizer? What kind of battery (and hopefully it's a sealed manual battery - ah Ego, good), What PG/VG of juice?

I use normal size 1ml cartomizers for 510 (Boge) and for KR808D-1 (vapor4Life, Bloog, Volt). I don't need a syringe, I rarely get leaks. I use juices that are PG w/ 20% or less VG - thin juices - and I avoid juices that drop a lot of sediment. This is how I fill, clean up, settle.

Bigger cartomizers may need more complex ways to fill them, like syringe or condom push to get juice into the bottom, the dripping in for the top.

----
How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

With the carto off the battery... Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid

Fill
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.

Cleanup
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that) While the carto is still open end down, touch a soft bunch of tissue to the top of the stuffing to get the loose juice - this will help prevent leaks.

Settle (first fill only)
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping
While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. Also, I use such light sediment-free juices, I can look at the stuffing and see if it needs juice because the stuffing goes back to near-white.

I often use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel). Easy to pop out to add juice.

Yes, eGo and a manual battery. Not sure on the sealed part.
I got the cartos from CCV, the Boge 510. I'm also using a drip tip. It came with the cartos :)

will def do the blow step before attaching to the battery. Thanks so much!

Yes manual Ego is sealed.

Then my instructions should work for you. Getting the juice in (I hold tissue with my finger against the threaded end hole), cleaning it up properly, and settling it will make a difference. You could use the syringe if you want but the juice has to mostly stay in (1ml or nearly 1ml of juice), then you have to clean it up well, then settle it.

If you use the syringe, try holding the carto sideways, stick the syringe down between the inner wall and the stuffing, press in some juice as you withdraw the needle. Then do that elsewhere along the wall. etc.

Then while vaping, I would just drip juice in down the inner wall. carry a tissue so you can use it to clean up if needed. No settle needed when just keeping it damp.

Don't forget to let us all know if it does blow up in your face. We all can benefit from your warnings. Thank you in advance.

JK, The worst that could happen is maybe a little liquid will inhibit the connection, so just clean it up good. This is why I love my ego, or any battery like this. I thought that having a pv that smoked like a cigarette would be best, but too many of those batteries went south on me to count. Even those batteries didn't blow up. The auto on feature just stopped working.

I accidentally put too much in an auto battery, and it just quit working, but the manuals, as stated by dormouse (who is very knowledgeable about these things *wanted to say that a lot of times, but never really had the opportunity, dormouse :)* ) is a sealed battery, therefore no juice can get to it, unless it creeps in through the switch, which is not an easy thing to do. Since I did crap out an auto, I keep it where I fill mine, to remind me to take the carto off the battery whenever I fill, just in case, and wipe it dry before I attach to battery.

The joys of sealed batteries! like Balthezar I have had many a automatic battery and had a little bit of juice go in them, and I pushed tissue, clips etc in there to try and clean it with no luck =/.... I think having the auto feature just adds more complications!..

Glad to hear it was ok anyways NikonGirl, and don't mean to change the subject.. but how do you find those cartos? I have heard they are amazing but only last a couple of days each?.

Thanks in advance :rickroll: :)

Today is the first day I've had them so I can't say how long they last for me just yet. I did read that 'topping off' every so often will keep them going longer so I try to do it before I notice the filling is white. I'll let you know though.

The other thing I noticed is that my flavor tastes better than the cart+atty. Im also using a drip tip. I don't drip the liquid in though. Its just easier then having to carry tweezers or something to pop off the the white top they come with.

Im thinking of trying the LR cartos next time I shop. I heard those were good.

Believe it or not Dormouse, you have answered a question I posted elsewhere, you're a star! What size drip tip do you use for KR8 cartos?
