I ordered my rdna40 the first day and after a long wait it finally arrived. Of course it had the screen issue but it still fired so I dealt with it until a week ago. I figured if I could hold out a few more versions would be gone through increasing my chance for a working unit. I get my brand new one tonight and yup, one hour into it the screen messes up. I love the device but after almost three months the same issues keep arising. I'm done with them until I see a prolonged period of time with little issue. Fortunately the device still fires like before so I'm just dealing with it. Ok, vent over.

Thanks for sharing. What's the screen issue? I have been thinking about getting one but for now I am holding back until there's no more negative review. :) Does that temperature control thing with nickel wires really won't burn your wicks, I mean there is no gunk on your coils at all and the wick stays nice and clean all the time? That's the only reason I want to get one. Is it really a pain in the s to build your coils with nickel wires? One thing I don't get is, if the chip can tell how much current to pass thru the nickel coil to reach the desired temperature, why can't it do that to the kanthal wires? Thanks man.

Ok, first the screen either locks up or gets garbled. It will go away after the screen times out. It usually only happens to me if it is outside and under 40 degrees. The temp thing really works and if used properly, it will prevent the cotton from burning. The coil does seem to stay a bit cleaner but it really depends on the juice, vg/pg ratio etc. As for building with nickel I haven't had any issues at all with 28ga. 32ga is a little tricky but wasn't horrible for me. It is much softer and you have to be careful moving it around especially while wicking it. As far as why you have to use nickel....nickel as very low resistance and as it heats up the resistance goes up in a linear fashion. This makes the chip able to calculate the temp based off the original (room temp) resistance. The chip will constantly be reading the resistance to see the changes and then calculate what the "temperature" is off that. It's impossible to do that with kanthal because the change in resistance is so very small, at least for now.

It is being implied that this is a temperature thing when it could be a 'alloc' command used in programing an ARM CPU. Cold weather can cause the algorithims to over run the memory with data, The ARM processors used by the DNA team have little memory and using a non-ending string is like asking the video memory to be overwritten. RockBox was always very explicit about not creating a memory overrun when programing in their ARM OS for MP3 and Apple mediaplayers. Why don't the dynamic DNA team ask Rockbox how to cure their problem and the clones. The ARM CPU has an onboard AC/DC converter for measuring and its data alone can become large if not sniped. GOD BLESS Malcom Young.

Right behind you...
I have a feeling Yihi is going to make sure that chip is right before releasing it. They have the China bias to overcome, and I've no doubt they would love to be #1 in the chip market, and win over the Evolve fans as well.

I'm willing to bet they're already doing a lot more volume than Evolv as it is. The SX series boards are found in a lot of mass-produced mods, some of them very popular (IPV line, Sigelei's line, etc). Contrast that with the DNA30 and DNA40 really only showing up in limited production mods (limited in comparison to the sheer amount of Yihi powered "authentic" mods out there).

And the SX 350 has already won over a lot of folks, it'll just get better when the SX350-J hits the market (providing it's a solid board).
