So I've been watching vidieo's and reading lots of threads about vaping gear, coil building and every thing else.. being the gotta' know every thing type that I am I'm doomed.
I know I will get way deep into this and will probably wind up stockpiling vape stuff just like I did cigars.
I'm Dooooomed.

Control your urges and buy what's on sale when it's on sale! Shinyitis knows no restraints.

And remember, version 2 is usually better than version 1, and cheaper once the initial R&D outlay is recovered. Let those without restraint pay for the design and bug fixes in version 1. Being the first on your block to buy means you are stuck with a lesser evolved product.

^^^ This!

Sometimes v1 is as good if not better than a v2 of a product but not always..

What's most important is to allow something to be on the market long enough to be able to ascertain what the problems are if any.

Also note that once a new version comes out the previous version will go on sale. And its always awesome to hit the sales..

I got my son his first mod for 1/3 the original price - he's had it and used it daily for more than a year now, which just can't be beat for a 20 dollar investment..

Craigslist can be epic for some deals, yes.

At least this is going to be a collection you get to "keep" as I'm assuming you didn't keep your "spent" cigars.

However, (and I am the last person who should be saying this) you don't need to collect them "all" this isn't a Pokeman game, also you can proceed at a less rapid pace. If it were me (I already spent all my vape money for the year, last year) I might focus more on DIY eliquids and rebuildale tank atomizers, as that is a way to vape that is self sufficient and will decrease costs overall.

Not in the beginning, for me, but I do see my costs decreasing steadily. And, I have enough nicotine frozen to last me a lifetime, a ton of flavors, and a lot of vape gear I am pretty attached to, and most of it is solid, well built stuff that will hold up. The drop in coils I use I have a large stash of, and I save the spent ones (and videos on how to rebuild them if needed) in case vape Armageddon comes for us all.

I regret nothing, LOL. I did not "value" cigarettes, I viewed them as consumables, something I was addicted to, nothing less, nothing more . I don't feel that way about my vape gear.

IMO, my "spending more" in the beginning was useful. I tried a lot of different things, learned a ton, and it kept my mind off smoking.

You may be doomed when it comes to vaping, but it's better than the doom of dying of a smoking related illness.

If you enter the shinyitis thread, be prepared .As in, "ask your dog to hide your wallet from you" type of prepared. LOL. They're busy talking high end mechs and safety at the moment. Also, half the group is going to want to try to convert you to squonking if you haven't started yet. LOL.

I couldn't agree more with this.

I am just fine buying today what was hot last year. Hell, I'm fine buying stuff that qualified as last year's stuff last year.

Three of my last tank/atty acquisitions were released in 2016. Only one of the last three devices I bought were released in 2018. And while I don't regret that purchase, I won't be buying another one (Smoant Battlestar Mini).

I'm already having fun, your a great bunch of people here !
I don't see myself buying hundreds of vaping mod's ( yet ) but not too long ago I did have 3 coleman coolerdor's full of cigars !
I have always had to dig in to the technical side of every thing so I know where this is going to lead.
But that's ok.. it beats the hell out of smoking !

At least 3/4 of my vaping hardware was purchased a year or more after it hit the market. I can always vape what I have without spending twice as much on the brand new stuff until the prices go down. It's not that I can't afford to pay over $100 for something new, it's just my parents coming out in my personality! I routinely buy things that were $75 or $100 or more last year and I pay something under $30 when I finally buy.

Shiny-itis got to me in a Burlington store last year. I spied a leather Members Only jacket for $24.95. It looks and feels great and I didn't have to pay over $100 for it. It's not cool anymore, but it fits well and keeps me warm. Eventually, it will come back in style and I'll be the first on my block to have one!
