I'm new to e-cigs, so far I'm on my 7th day without analogs, using the SmokeTip. It's functional, and I've kept and cleaned the cartomizers, but adding e-juice (VG) to these carts gives me a strange taste... it might be the tobacco flavor I have, or I burned the cartos already :(

In any case, after using the faux-cigarette that is the KR808 (that is the type that SmokeTip is, correct?), I plan on moving on to something different. What I would like out of my next e-cig is:

-Something that won't require me to switch to a different battery after 3 hours of use.
-A way to see how much juice is left, quickly.
-Manual button, and a cigarette shape isn't important.
-Large enough capacity that I won't need to worry about carrying a bottle of juice with me
-High atomizer lifespan

I had a chance to try out the Ego-T at Vermont Vapor today, and I think it might be what I'm looking for. But if there is another kind of e-cig that would fit this criteria (specifically a long atomizer lifespan, and ease of use/refilling), feel free to mention it! Quick reputable retails would also be helpful.

Sorry for so many questions, but even the veterans out there can find all these options daunting... right?

VG is too thick for slim ecig cartos and even many cartos used on big ecigs. Moves through the stuffing/wicks too slowly to keep it damp near the coil, and you singe the stuffing. I use 80PG/20Vg or less VG in slim ecig cartos. Tanks also like thinner juices though some 50/50 juices may work.

The real Joye brand EGO-T batteries are good and have a 5-click enable/disable. But many don't like the tanks - lack of flavor, leaking, the usual issues with atomizers (degrading. needing cleaning etc). Most people prefer cartomizers. but you can use cartomizers on the Ego-T batteries if you don't like the tanks. And if you need something that holds a lot of juice, there are cartomizer tanks like MAP and Ary tanks (which I have not tried - I use plain Boge cartos, the most popular 510 threaded cartos). if you get the Ego T you might also want a plain 510 atty and 510 drip tip for testing juices and dripping.

I would skip the T...stay with the eGo or (preferably) a Riva 510 from Liberty Flights...get the eGoMegaDualCoilCartos, they hold twice as much as the tanks...can't see how much liquid is in them BUT, you will figure it out...you can get the Clearomizers, which work like the emdccs but you can see what is in them.........

I've had my eGo-T for a week now and love it, but I don't exactly have much to compare it with. I bought a pack of soft-gasket tanks from myfreedomsmokes with it and have been using just two of them for the past week, haven't had a leak yet. I can't speak for the atomizer longevity yet, but the 1000mah batteries last me all day and then some, so for $60 for the whole kit, you can't really go wrong, even if you end up disliking/having issues with the tanks after a while.

eGo-T is a great starting point. As has been mentioned, the on/off 5-click button is great if you ever put it in your pocket - no risk of it cooking off and you not knowing it. Just because you get the T doesn't mean you are locked in to anything. You can put anything with a 510 thread on that battery.

IMO, the only one to get is the T because you have the on/off and the option to go with tanks, anything less is just leaving options behind. I know others have had success with some of the knockoffs, but I went with the original from Joye and have been very happy with it.

There is a bit of technique to using tanks - you can get flavor from them. The trick is to get your draw light... very light.

I only use the tank these days when I am using a passthrough, usually I use either one of the mega carto's, or a Boge. Do yourself a favor, grab a few different carto's to try out when you order. They're cheap and it will save you having to pay shipping to experiment around with the different ones later.

I've had my eGo-T for 9 weeks now. It was my first device and only device to date. I recommend it as a starting point to everyone, and purchased it after doing my research extensively, watching a hundred youTube videos, and reading these forums for more than 20 hours. The last analog cigarette I had was driving back home from the post office with my eGo-T still in the box.

-Something that won't require me to switch to a different battery after 3 hours of use.
My 1000Mah battery lasts anywhere from 25 to 31 hours. I consider myself a moderate (average) vapor, and vape between 2-2.5ml juice per day.

-A way to see how much juice is left, quickly.
Turn the device upside down for 1/2 a second and see the liquid. I can accurately eyeball from the juice in the clear tank to the hour how much vaping I have left.

-Manual button, and a cigarette shape isn't important.
Check... and the 5-click button disable is great. Goes in my pocket like a gunslinger. :D

-Large enough capacity that I won't need to worry about carrying a bottle of juice with me
I moved up quickly to type-B tanks and tube atty, which draw better, stay cooler, feel more natural in the mouth, and hold about 2ml... about 1 day's solid vaping. I've never gone through the whole tank during my 9 hour work-day, and I vape all day at my desk in my own office (woot!). I carry a spare cart in my jeans mini-pocket (has never leaked) but invariably never need it... its a security blanket (like a spare pack of smokes was when going out drinking). Some have a bad experience with the tanks. They've been flawless for me. The only leaks I've experienced is when I get in the car at the end of work and put my eGo-T in the black plastic cup-holder that gets to about 185 degrees in the California summer weather (from my 72-degrees office).

-High atomizer lifespan
Originally my atomizers lasted about 1.5-2 weeks. Now they last about a month. That is without cleaning, because I'm lazy. A few repairable attys are now on the market, so don't worry too much about the atty lifespan... the industry is and will take care of that very shortly. Just in the 9 weeks I've been here (daily) I'm seeing exponential growth and innovation, from multiple countries.

So I agree with Rubber Ducky... is it the best device? No. Is it a GREAT first device? Absolutely, and at its going price, as RD said "you can't really go wrong". :)

So correct me if I am wrong, but I could buy an ego-t kit, then purchase an ego atomizer and cart (or cartomizer), as well as any number of 510 atomizers and carts, right? It sounds like the ego-t is backwards compatible with ego and 510.

I've been checking out more videos, specifically DoctorVapor on youtube, and considering my old smoking habits, sometimes im sitting down by the computer and vaping constantly, or I'm driving and vaping constantly. In these cases, I could drip/use drip tips by the computer, and a tank system while I'm driving. Dripping every 15 minutes by the computer wouldnt be too much of a hassle.

I've got a lot of 100% VG juice, and I've got juices in the mail that are PG/VG mixes or just straight PG. In the meantime, I added a little water to my VG juice and it seems to be working better in my cartomizers, thankfully. If I were to get the ego-t kit, what would work best for the VG?

I have two eGo-Ts. I highly recommend you skip the kit...buy a couple of eGo or eGoT batts at 1000Mah, get a charger and go straight to an eGo Mega Dual Coil Carto...they come in clear as well. I personally found the tanks too "fiddly" with little TH, vapor and taste. The EMDCC is a beast though on top of some genuine eGo batts.

I might do that carpe, just buy my stuff a la carte.

But could I get confirmation on the compatibility of the ego with ego-t and 510 parts?

The eGo and eGo-T are 510 threaded, so you can use any 510 threaded device on them. Seriously check out the EMDCC though...you'll be glad you did.

I started with the eGo-T and it got me off of cigarettes.

I later moved the batteries to the Type B cylinder atomizers and type B mega cartridges and I am a happy vaper.

The T works, some love it, and some don’t. The nice thing about the eGo is that you can try a lot of different things... using the same batteries, I have hence moved to the 900 and 1000 mah batteries that last me more than a day of fairly heavy vaping.

after months of vaping... I have no desire at all to switch to another PV, the eGo stuff is perfectly adequate for my needs.

+1 on the clearomizers. They're a bit finicky, and some leak. (about 2 or 3 out of my first couple 5-packs leaked)

BUT you can see exactly how much liquid you have, and I like the hit/vapor MUCH better than my Ego-T. The biggest drawback is they're fragile. So I don't take them with me to work.

I take the Ego-T to work (with the type B tube/tank). I keep the 1100mah battery and clearomizer full of RY4 for when I get home :)

ordered some boge cartomizers, will try them when they arrive.

My husband and I both bought the tanks to go on our Tornado batteries and didn't like them. We both kept getting a burnt taste because they didn't wick fast enough. We go with 70pg/30vg liquid, and seemed thin enough. Finally, we switched to cartomizers both single and dual coils and it worked out better.(we dripped before that) If you buy an ego battery, an ego tank atty and cartridge will fit it. We had ego batteries from TW, Smoke Tech and some other one...and the Ego T worked on all of them. However if you buy a battery a la carte and don't have an Ego charger, get one. 510 charger can either take forever to charge them or you could mess your battery up. Make sure to get a 1100mah battery! Less charging more puffin:) lol

Thanks for the advice people. I ended up getting an ego battery with the mini usb port, so i can keep it plugged in as well if I want to! As well as a set of 510 dual coil clearomizers, traditional 510 atty/carts, ego cartomizers, and 510-t atty/tanks. oh and a couple drip tips. Hopefully that will cover all bases for now. This was all from litecig.

I love the eGo PT. I use mods and a Kgo with a little higher voltage most of the time but the eGo PT hits nicely and the peace of mind it delivers of always having a fully-charged PV far exceeds the tiny price tag. What a great first purchase you made. I'll prolly get spanked here but the eGo PT is plugged in all the time when I'm home. I don't know if you're supposed to do that. It works like a champ with LR 306 and LR 510 atomizers and LR cartomizers. I don't give it steady use so I don't know if it would stand up over time with low resistance elements on it. The regular eGos suggest not using LR attys/cartos. It's a great product at nice price.
