I'm a little over a month of vaping almost exclusively V4L and I think I have a problem with the PG base. Lately when I wake up in the morning, I've needed to cough up a bunch of phlegm before I could vape. Starting this last weekend I thought I was getting sick. Congestion, tightness of my chest, etc. Earlier in the week I increased my water intake to 3 liters of water a day. That really didn't help. Yesterday afternoon, I switched over to pure VG and all of my symptoms have progressively gotten better. I guess my problem was with sensitivity to PG. I plan to stay on the pure VG for a few days to see what happens, but I'm a little disappointed that I can't seem to handle the PG.

Ya know you might have been fighting something off. I read about a study that vaping helps with certain respiratory issues like bronchitis, so maybe it's gone now. Try going back to PG in a week you might be worrying for nothing.

Thanks, Kimmie & Joker. I was a smoker for a long time and I really love vaping. I much prefer the flavors with PG & V4L. The VG flavors are all really muted. I'll lay off the PG for a while and see if I can pick it back up without the same problems. At least with the VG, it's keeping me off the real thing.

Yeah I'd hate to see you miss out on the wonderfulness of PG if you're not really sensitive/allergic to it.

Perhaps you just had a cold my friend. I know some people are alergic to PG but do you really think it would take a month to show up? Best of luck!

No I wouldn't. Unfortunately, this is the latest of a series of reactions. Because I travel so much, I chalked the first couple of bouts to occupational hazard or using a non-V4L juice. I don't think it's a full blown allergic reaction, more like sensitivity. This last bout, I wasn't getting better until I switched to VG. I'll give PG another go, but if I have the same reaction, that will be it. It may be that I just vaped to much PG.

You raise an interesting question that's hard to answer. There's just so much going on when we're quitting smoking cigs that one never knows what's causing what. If you search in the e-cig forum, you'll find a very long thread about such health issues, especially extreme fatigue ans shortness of breath a month or two into the vaping experience. I also read somewhere about people's tendency to get sick (colds, pneumonia, etc.) after the cigs stop, sometimes even months into the process.

Personally, six weeks in, I first noticed a constant cough (gone now), dry hands (better but still present), and some fatigue (still present). I also caught the flu for the first time in years, which led to a major sinus infection requiring antibiotics. Did quitting cigs and/or vaping contribute? I think probably yeah, but really have no idea. I've also wondered if VG would help me, but the taste leaves me cold. In the end, I've decided to keep going for some more months to let my body adjust and heal. I have a sneaky suspicion that all will settle down for me eventually--I hope for you, too.
