My girlfriend and I have been together just over a year, and I was a pretty heavy analog smoker up until last week. Since I've switched to my PV, she has been SO completely supportive of my new hobby. So much so, that she bought me my next PV, and Inferno-T system!

I think this could be a good thread to just talk about how your family has supported you in your venture. It's great that we all support each other on here, but I love being able to sit at the computer WITH my girlfriend and shop for PV's and PV accessories and have her get just as excited as I get!

Who is your support system?

My boyfriend is definitely on my side with this, and I even got him a starter kit to help him quit dipping. So we both get super excited about... pretty much everything.

I've got his family and friends on it, and half of my family is either considering or have already made the switch. We're just a big ol' vaping family over here xD

I hear you there! My girlfriend has never been a smoker, and actually finds it pretty gross (wonder how she put up with me for a year). The other day, she asked me to show her how to vape, so I let her try my 510. She LOVES what I'm doing and it makes me feel even better about vaping having someone who's not a smoker support me in what I'm doing!

My girlfriend loves that I quit analogs, but she sees my recent hobby (obsession haha) in vaping as just transferring my addiction to vaping.

We actually had an argument when she asked how long I will be vaping and I told her "not sure, a year or possibly more. Until I can work my way off the nicotine."

I don't really think she sees all the benefits yet...

My hubby too..... He's actually been sort of arrogant about my vaping in the sense that he has always been able to just quit at will, but I think this weekend after I smoked a couple of analogs with him (don't ask me why I did it because it was nasty), he felt bad for even bringing them into the house, and this morning asked me to order a couple of new flavors so he can get back to his PV.

I never understood people that could just quit at will. I guess they don't have that addictive personality. I am an addict by nature, I come from a family of addicts. Anything I do, I get addicted to, even playing hockey, or drinking energy drinks. I wish there was a way to make someone feel what we go through when we have a craving for that addiction that feeds us.

I'm ashamed to say, that until I tried to quit smoking the first time (quite a few years ago), I had a superiority complex towards addicts. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks..... if I can't put a stupid cigarette down, how in the world could I possibly look down on someone who can't kick the habit of using mind/mood-altering substance? There's really no difference in my mind anymore.... except that cigarettes are legal. I wished the nonsmoking world could realize that.

Smoking addicts are a different breed of addicts. We're looked down upon by non addicts as having a disgusting habit that kills us. Yet because smoking is somewhat more socially accepted as opposed to illegal narcotics, we're kind of looked at as not having much of a problem by the addiction community. This vaping community is the closest thing I've found to a true support system, almost my own "NicAnon" if you will. If it wasn't for you guys here, and my extremely, almost overly supportive girlfriend, I would have smoked to my grave.

My significant other is very supportive. He quit smoking many moons ago-cold turkey.
It really is amazing how he put up with my stinking habit for so many years. He has learned the lingo and accepts it completely. He is even going to go to Vapestock with me. It's gonna be a blast!

This is about where I am with the wife. We quit at the same time, she is using the patch. She gives me some looks and jokes about "interventions" when seeing my supplies (which are rather meager).

Oh well, it has kept me from smoking, and at some point I will quit vaping too I am sure. She'll get over it I am guessing as the alternative is going back to smoking.

Hubby and I started this together and it has been nice doing this with a partner. The funny thing is that we met 7 years ago during a quit attempt in a stop smoking group, but during our wedding planning we both started again! My mother has never let us forget that and started crying when we told her we had quit. Smoking AND quitting have been at the forefront of our relationship, but i believe that we have it licked this time :) :) :)

The only negative I've experienced with my boyfriend - and this is a very slight negative, as it adds yet another interesting "quirk" to our relationship - is when we're snuggling, and he reaches down to grab my hand, and... oh look, there's my PV. I swear, it's like that thing is glued to my hand. But at least I'm not leaving the house every hour to have a cigarette.
