Last night I started my own newbie thread to give myself the 5 post minimum so that I could actually contribute to threads that are important to me (mainly the new King county ban on e-cigs indoors).

My thread was deleted for "spamming for post count", and I understand. I have nothing against moderators doing their job, and as a member of other forums, I do respect the admins.

My little bit of history: I became interested in e-cigs about 4 weeks ago, after a bit of searching I found ecf. I didn't become a member because I knew that most of the newbie questions I had were probably already answered somewhere on the forum, and I am familiar with the search button.

After getting as informed as I felt the need to be (I did notice that many vaper's move across a scale of products gradually throughout their journey), I ordered a Joye eGo, with 2 pass-thru batts, extra atty's, carts, carto's, and juice. All in all I am quite satisfied with my hardware.

I am a pack-a-day smoker, and my packs are $10 each. In the last 14 days I have bought 3 packs. A savings of $110. As of yesterday I am not buying anymore unless my ecig dies and I am desperate.

I noticed that when I have a pack, I still like them better than vaping and they can disappear
pretty quick, but when I don't, I'm just fine with my eGo. So screw that. I'm not buying any more smokes.

If anybody reading this is interested in making a stink in Seattle, I am contemplating it, I think the BOH overstepped their authority.

Otherwise, I'll post here and there in this thread until I'm allowed to post elsewhere, and my apologies to the mods for my earlier behavior.

I have seen a lot of posts lately of people who were looking in through the windows for quite awhile before actually joining. You are not alone. Just makes it a bit harder when you really want to reply in a thread that just reaches right out and grabs you-LOL.
Know that you have signed up, it won't take long.
Good to hear you are going to give your Ego a bit more vaping time and the cigarettes less. Don't rush yourself, but you do have to make the decision-as you have- to vape before smoking. Most times that will work and satisfy that cigarette craving.
Welcome and glad to have you aboard.

Hehe, welcome cracker75! I'm pretty darn new around here as well and a little discouraged by the 5-post requirement to be able to post elsewhere in the forum. I can understand the Mod's reasons for doing it, but I also think it might backfire slightly as newbies start posting unnecessary (yet craftily on-topic) posts in New Member forum threads just to get that post count to 5.

But anyway - congrats on making the conscious decision not to buy any more of those nasty analog death-stix! When my husband and I got our e-cig starter pack just after Thanksgiving, we didn't pick up another analog after the first puff on an e-cig. But then our one and only battery recharger malfunctioned after 9 days, and we had to go back to analogs. It absolutely disgusted me to smoke again (of course, I have hated smoking for about the last 10 years but continued only out of severe addiction). Then we got our replacement recharger (free of charge) almost a week ago and haven't picked up an analog since.

What worked for me? When I first got my e-cig I told myself it wasn't going to replace smoking. I told myself I would just cut down on smoking and hopefully the e-cig would take the edge off my more severe craving moments. I told myself if I could just get down to a few cigs (analog) a day, I'd be happy.

But something happened when I took that first drag off my Yeti 510. My brain seemed to wrap around it immediately. There was my beloved menthol flavor, there was an item in my hand moving to my mouth that was roughly the dimension of a "real" cig, there was this big plume of "smoke-like" vapor exaling through my mouth!

There has been, in the last smoke-free week, only ONE time that I very briefly had an analog craving - it was right after eating cheesecake. Something about that sweet dessert made me want a smoke. So, I picked up the 510, took a long hit of menthol and the cig craving was gone.

I wish you the best of luck, though I doubt luck is what you need. Before you know it, you won't even have any thoughts about analogs again (except maybe for how smelly they were, how they killed your tastebuds, how they killed your sense of smell, how much they COST, how bad that nasty ashtray smelled... and of course the big one: what they did to your health).

Hi cracker, welcome to ecf
where have you bought juice from? thats part of my excitement with ecigs now -

Well, I just bought my juice from cignot, because that's the one site I found that offered me the best options on package and pricing. Overall, I wasn't too thrilled at first with my flavors, but as my sense of taste returns, I find that my thoughts are different. Here's the run down:

I ordered :

Cappacino flavor@ 16 mg and 18 mg , I really don't like these at all.
Ry4 tobacco flavor @ 16mg and 24mg. These are tolerable, and I'm liking them more and more.
mint @ 6mg. Not enough nic by itself, but I like the taste. I have cut this into my RY4 and it's pretty good.
Naked VG @ 18mg. Just for a benchmark, and something to vape if I run out of everything else.

Also all my juice is VG, and next time I would like to order some PG to see if the viscosity difference makes it vape better (though I might just buy raw glycerine to dilute my existing stash, is that safe?)

Anyways, I really have no idea what I'll order in the future, and I don't really want to end up with 1000 little bottles of stuff I don't like. I wish there were a retail outlet nearby so I could try different flavors before buying.

Feel free to let me know what you like and where you got it. Every bit of info helps.

Cheers

hey cracker, me again! There is a post *somewhere* on this forum that I ran across earlier today. Not sure where it was but I believe the thread was titled "Pay It Forward". Basically, from the looks of the thread it's where different forum users *trade* e-cig items (like flavors they don't like for flavors they'd like to try). I don't know, but it seems like a semi-safe way to check out new flavors and get rid of the ones you know you don't like!

If anyone reading this knows the thread I'm referring to, if you wouldn't mind could you please toss up a link?

Hi all,

Rather than start a new thread, I have an atty issue I'm putting here, hopefully someone can shed some light on what I did.

2 days ago I was trying to clean my atty's (4 of 5) and had had a couple of drinks.....I noticed some fibrous material inside the atty under the bridge and pulled it out thinking I was cleaning stray fibers from the cart that had lodged in the atty.

Most of these were dark brown, and some were fused and black, so I thought I was doing the right thing removing them. Well now I've read that atty's are supposed to have wicks in them, and mine seem to function only if I am dripping.

Basically, if I put 2-3 drops on the atty I get great vapes for 8-10 hits, then it starts to taste burnt (I had done an alcohol soak and blow-out prior to messing with them), even though the cart is full enough that it should be working fine.

So now these attys only vape good if I totally top off the cart and drip a few drops.

Are these at all salvageable, or did I screw them up for good?

PS: they're only 2 weeks old and I have been maintaining them.

I have four 510 attys that I've removed the wicking material from and I can't tell any difference in wicking. The wire mesh covering the bridge should wick just fine. Is the top of the bridge making good contact with the poly? Of course, the poly is infamous for holding the juice but on a fresh fill you should be able to vape out seven or eight drops before it slows down, just as before. Maybe try one of the tea bag mods and see if that helps??? Sorry I cant be of more help.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody, it's only been 2 weeks and I am very happy with the transition to e-cigs!

As far as my hardware issues go, who knows, I think one problem may be that I am using only VG, and that its viscosity is preventing the fluid in the carts from wicking fast enough. On my next order I will get some strait PG to cut it with and see if I get different results.

I am really looking forward to ordering more juices, and seeing what kind of DIY magic I can work.

E-cigs rock. $3600 not spent killing myself by this time next year.

Glycerin is what is already in your VG (VG = vegetable glycerin). PG is propylene glycol. Two very different things.

You could always try a cart mod that delivers the juice a bit better to the atty. I use the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartridge-mods/52430-ptb-straw-mod-ptb-made-easy.html. I've never used pure VG, so I don't know if this mod will help or not, but it's very easy to do (I used regular tea bags because I couldn't find ptb's where I live).

In regards to the previous post, can I just buy strait glycerin from the pharmacy to cut my liquids?

If you buy USP glycerin you can use it to cut your liquids. But be aware that you will be diluting the flavor as well. People use glycerin in DIY fluids. DIY fluid is just nic base fluid (can be VG but most is PG), flavoring, VG, and optional water or alcohol to thin it some. If this interests you take a look at the DIY section of the forums.

Hey cracker,
Glad things are going good for ya. I've only been vaping about 1 week and I swear I'm a natural. It's been 1 week since I've had a cig and I don't even have much of a desire. (as long as I vape). Can't believe how bad that last 1 smelled and tasted. Had to gargle and brush my teeth just to try and get rid of the yucky taste left in my mouth. My wife sure values vaping more now and I can understand her dislike all these years. Bless her heart. She must really love me.
Good luck on making the transition and learning about mixing and different flavors. This forum really is a help for me.

Check out the community area within ECF and see if there are any local vapers/clubs active near you. Here in Rochester we're gearing up for a 3rd meet-up. It's a great opportunity to get together and vape other people's juice...LOL. Our last meet-up, for example, I brought along roughly 30 bottles of my DIY and let everyone have at it. It was a lot of fun.
