Im interested in replacing my current smoking habit (pack a day) with an electronic cigarette type product.

Im not sure how any of it works.. I have tried reading the forums a bit and dont understand some of the terminology used etc.

I would like something that looks like a regular smoke, or at least the same size. I like the idea of refilling used carts and the different flavors..

What Brand/Model do you recomend?
Is a push button better than an auto turn on and why?
How long do carts last in the models you recomend?
How long do atomizers last?
how do you refill them... you need syringes?
how many batteries do i need? (pack a day smoker)

Thanks in advance

Hi DruidB, welcome to the forum.

May I suggest checking out some video reviews, Scott(igetcha69) has done some excellent ones http://www.youtube.com/user/igetcha69, he has also just done some specific to the Intellicig Evo(M401/M402) and the Joye 510 for Innovapor Video : InnoVapor, The Finest in Personal Vaporizers. The Evo/m401 and the 510 are popular models.

I also suggest watching Spikeys intro to vaping, it is very informative and should answer some of your questions http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/8952-new-updated-comprehensive-intro-vaping.html

All the best and Happy Vaping

the white Evo/M401 looks very much like a real cigarette
its available in canada but kind of expensive from the suppliers here unless their pricing has changed since i last looked

2 canadian suppliers immediately come to mind
i use Vapes Mart - Canada's #1 Supplier of Personal Vaporizers and Accessories for nic juice
i like the marlbro high 24mg for throat hit
he also sells 801s and 901s at good prices

Happy Vaper - Canadian Quality Electronic Cigarette/Personal Vaporizers and DIY Smoke Liquid sells black 510s at good prices and cool refilling accessories like dropper bottles, flavorings and syringes

there are other canadian suppliers as well that i've not used yet so check them out too from the links in the stickies here

look for the discout codes from the suppliers before you order as most have them

i personally own Evo/M401, 510 and 801
usb connectivity is now available for all ecig models if you look hard enough or have the technical skills to make your own from dead batteries

from my experience, all ecigs have pros and cons like battery life, cart capacity, vapor production and leakage problems
the 901 is very popular as well but i don't own one so i can't comment on it

i'd order locally first but for absolute best price, you can't beat ordering from over seas but expect 2 weeks til you receive your order
probably best to order only hardware with no juice to avoid possible customs problems
this means ordering batteries, atomizers, chargers, usb passthroughs and blank carts only

i've ordered juice from overseas without problems as have many others here but it looks to be becoming a crap shoot so contact the seller before ordering to see if you have options for a customs refused shipment

I have 901's, 801's and 401's and would love to try the 510. They are all good and all available in Canada. I've tried a few of the 2 pc cartomizer style but really disliked those so I wouldn't recommend them. Which one is best for you depends on what you are looking for:

Since you asked for something close to a real cig, that leaves the 801 out (which happens to be my favourite :) The 801 is like smoking a peace pipe but man, when combined with higher voltage the vapour, flavoor and throat hit and excellent.

The 901 is excellent with good throat hit and is probably the best for flavour but has a flattened end for the tip so you might not like that.

The 401 is a reliable workhouse that looks and acts like a real cig. It has good throat hit, lots of vapor and is extremely easy to drip once you get comfortable with the whole process. We don't have a supplier in Canada with really good prices. As much as I like Sean and his excellent customer service, his prices have always been on the high side.

The 510 (and this is just based on all the forum reviews) gives off a ton of vapour and has extremely good throat hit. It is a manual (requires you to push a small button to activate the atomizer) so the experience may not be as cig like as you are looking for. The downside is that it runs very hot and has quite limited battery life.

Hands down, the best are the mods but they are all manual and quite unlike a cig so I won't bother going into detail. Eventually, if you become a die hard vaper I expect we will be seeing you with a mod :)

I know Tim at vapesmart is about to start carrying the 401's. You might want to message him and get a time on it as his prices are extremely good. Other than that I'd have to recommend getting a 510 from Happy Vaper. Everyone that buys from there seems quite pleased.
