I'm fairly new to vaping, started a week ago. My e-cig was a gift, it's an RN4081. My first issue was only having one battery and battery life. I got more batteries, so I'm good now. As a whole, I really like this thing and it's the only thing I see as having the ability to keep me off of cigarettes. Prior to receiving this e-cig I'd only vaguely heard of them and it never entered my mind to try one. Now that I have I know I'm hooked.

I'm now wondering if I should have a different type? Like I said, I'm pretty happy with this, but I keep reading about how everyone recommends the 510 or kr808, not to mention all of the mods and eGo, Tornado, Chuck, etc. So, my question is: Should I be looking at a different model? Since I've only ever used the one I have and am pretty happy with it, I keep wondering if it's worth it to start all over and go with another one instead?

What do you think?

Did you only smoke the first brand of cigarettes you tried? Or did you try others?

I know it's not that simple, but kinda close.

Variety is the spice of life.
You never know, you might like a different one even more..
But if you do find you like another one better, don't throw out the current one.
Backup...backup....backup...spare....just in case...etc..

Cost should not be a consideration, becuase
1) it's cheaper than cigarettes (in the long run).
2) It's keeping you off cigarettes, so who cares how much it costs..

Again, since it's keeping you off cigarettes, I say endulge/splurge a little bit.

And congrats on the choice to Vape instead of smoke. It's a TRUE life changer/saver.

Thanks. You know, it's not the cost factor. I feel like I've finally figured this one out and hate to start over. As everyone here seems to know, it's all so overwhelming at first and I feel like I'm just now getting a good handle on it. Of course, I'm sure a lot of what I've learned would carry over, so it's not exactly like I'd be back at square one.

I guess there's no hurry to make a decision. I keep reading here and keep learning more. I'll have to see which model is most appealing to me if I do try another.

You're exactly right on that.
Ecigs are similar to cars.

With Cars, There are tons of different manufacturers and styles, but they all work pretty much the same way. They have an engine that runs on some kind of fuel, and they take you from point A to point B. Some Faster, some with more power, some with greater fuel efficiency, some with more class/style.
Once you learn how to drive one car, the learning curve is way smaller when you try to drive another one.

With Ecigs, tons of manufacturers and styles, but they all work pretty much the same. They vaporize a liquid containing nicotine that you inhale. Some hold more liquid, some have longer battery life, some are more/less efficient at vaporizing the liquid, and some look cooler.
But they are all essentially doing the same thing.

So yes, once you get the hang of one, the learning curve is WAY smaller if you try another one.

First I would like to say welcome to the forum and congrats on kicking the habit.

Within regards to your question about other e-cigs, if you are happy with what you have right now, that is great! If in time you feel that you would like to try something else then do so.

I started with the same kit that you have and was also disappointed with battery life. But, I was also not that crazy about the way it vaped either. I wanted to test and see what other atomizers vaped like. I bought cheap kits, a DSE 801, DSE 901 and a titan 510 to get an idea and a feel for how each atty performed. By doing this, I discovered what I did and did not like about each one.

Now I have a collection of over 80 PV's and lots of adapters! I like to see how all of my mods vape using different attys although I usually get them with 510 atty connections.

So take your time and look around and read a lot. E-cigs are changing more and more from when I first started and that was only last June! There are LV attys, HV attys, different cartos, different voltages, etc.

Just kick back and enjoy you vape and take secure knowledge in that fact that at least you are no longer adding nails to the coffin!

Thank you for the welcome. I'm curious to try a lot of different types. I keep wondering if there's something I'd like even more. I wish there were a big vapers swap meet where people could buy/sell/trade and handle all these different things.

The 4081 can be used with smokestik cartomizers and once you get a few you can start to refill them. Cartomizers are the way to go as far as I'm concerned. I like the convenience. With a couple batteries and some juice and cartomizers to refill, you should be a happy camper.

I am wanting to try a 510/Ego, but more from curiosity and being able to get carto's from someone other than smokestik than from any disappointment in the 4081 format. I just find the smokestik carto's inconsistent. I bought a couple of 5 packs that lasted less than 20 puffs each. To smokestik's credit, they sent me two new packs in the mail and I got them the next day! (helps that they are in the same state as me)

I've read some about cartomizers, but I guess I'm not really understanding exactly how it's better to refill a cartomizer rather than to refill a cartridge. I fill a few cartridges in the morning before I leave and am good for the day. How is that different from the cartomizer?

First of all, welcome to the forums!
We started with the RN4081 Smokestik and stayed with them for about 4 months but finally moved on because they always seemed to leak quite a bit. From there we went to the M401 model, then the ever-popular Joye 510. My wife still uses the 510 but with the extended and longer living batteries.
I went to the Janty eGo about 3 weeks ago and couldn't be more satisfied. Batteries last, at least 8 hours, and the cone that comes with them keeps any juice from leaking.
It's a learning game. I wish we'd started with the 510 or the eGo. Would have saved a lot of money and aggravation.
