I'm new, and I'd like to know more about e-cigs

I've heard about them and briefly researched in the past, but I've never actually tried them.

I typically smoke one cigarette per day, when I get off work and have a Coronita. However, even this is too much for me. I would like to quit smoking cigarettes altogether, but I like my beer so I don't plan on giving that up quite yet. In fact, if e-cigarettes manage to resemble regular cigarettes, I'll be okay.

But I don't know where to start. Any suggestions? I like menthol cigarettes (e.g., Camel Crush).

Thanks in advance.

Are all the chemicals safe to be atomized/ nebulized? I mean, I've read that many have propylene glycol which has been used in nebulizers in the past (so, it's likely safe). But, what other chemicals are being inhaled and can they cause pneumonias because of the bacteria? That's probably a stupid question considering that I smoke cigarettes and it has a lot worse chemicals.

Can anyone suggest some reputable companies to find the flavorings?

There are a lot of dealers on these forums with great products, I would recommend checking out the vendor section of these forums. Personally, I have purchased from Freedom Smoke USA and their juice was good but personally I think I will go with a 2 or 3 x on the flavorings next time. I have also ordered from Joogler juice but have not had a chance to try the juice yet. As an ex-menthol smoker myself my first juice purchase was Artic Mist. Something to keep in mind, hope it helps.

Also for your consideration as to weither or not e-cigs are safe:

The CASAA is a wonderful resource.
http://www.casaa.org/files/Are Electronic Cigarettes Safe.pdf

It offers a nice break down on the different chemicals. It doesn't tell you if they are truly safe it simply gives you the facts to make an informed decision on the health risks vs. rewards of switching.

Help that helps!

It sort of sounds like you don't smoke that one cigarette per day for the nicotine.
So I'm thinking you probably don't even need any nicotine, in which case you should get zero nicotine juice.

I think you're right. I like the feeling of having a beer with a smoke; in fact, I think the effect is more psychological rather than physiological. It's like a match made in heaven.

I used to smoke much more, but that was usually because I worked around smokers and it was contagious. But now, I'll smoke one after work, and then if I'm hanging with my bro-in-law and we're drinking, I'll smoke more because he smokes and we'll have a couple drinks.

So, I think what you're saying is that I have some sort of oral fixation, eh? Maybe. I bite my finger nails a lot.

Thank you DC2. I'm gonna' try 0 mg and see how I handle it (psychologically).

Sounds good!

Is there any information on what dripping and dipping e-juice are? I've seen those mentioned in a post.

Dripping is a method of vaping your e-juice. To use this method you need a 3-piece e-cig (cartridge/drip tip, atomizer, battery). The KR808D-1 that I recommended earlier cannot be used to drip. Dripping is for those that are looking to get the best flavor/vapor from their e-juice. When you use cartridges or cartomizers the e-liquid is soaked in a spongy material and this causes the e-juice to change flavor a bit. When you drip you are dripping liquid directly on the heating element of the atomizer so you get the best taste. Dripping requires you to drip a couple drops into the atomizer (usually through a drip tip) every few hits. You'll need to carry around a small bottle of juice with you. I would not recommend dripping for you. You can get a satisfying vaping experience and good flavor without dripping.

There are a lot of reasons people smoke, and oral fixation is certainly one for some people.
For me, smoking was more about taking a break, getting away, being alone with my thoughts for 10 minutes as needed.

1 cigarette a day... why bother with it, just quit. In context E cigs were created as an alternative for people who smoke. As little as you smoke I wouldn't call ya a smoker, not in the sense the vast majority here were. I just can't see any reason for you to fork over any cash for a kit to replace 1 cig a day.

Easier said than done AB. Even when I got down to 2 or 3 a day when I got started vaping, I soooo looked forward to that one or two smokes in the evening. It's probably more of a ritual with this poster. We are creatures of habit.

Good point. I'll smoke more on family gatherings. By myself on the typical weekday, probably one or two smokes max. But, I need a smoke with my beer, and I need my beer after work (stress). It just helps me unwind.
