I'm new/Questions

Hey, I'm new here. Ive been using ecigs for a while now, mostly just 5-10s and clearomizers. My dad gave me a new ecig and I have no idea what its called, I dont mess around with it. I threw some pictures up to see if anyone can tell. (sorry for bad quality, my cell phone isnt exactly a iphone 5

the battery is 3.7v, 2000mAh (7.4WH). I am not sure what gauge the wire is to make the coil but when tested, its 1ohm (repeating what I was told) The wick is just cotton under the coil, I believe this is called a "diaper"? not sure on the slang lol.

I guess my questions are, what cartomizers can I use on this battery (if any others), and any suggestions on where I should go from here? I know theres tons of different ecigs from tons of different people online and im used to just 5-10s and clearomizers from the vape shop.

Hi :)
I am new also to this Forum. You have an awesome set up here!! I am afraid I am totally lost when it comes to ecig set-ups. I have been buying my batteries etc from Liberty Flights. I call them from time to time and they give me the scoop on whats the best for what you want, at the time.
Currently I am using the eGo-C Twist at 4.8v's! along with their Boge Cartomizers! I LOVE this setup! excellent throat hit and vapor! I highly recommend it :) You should try it out. Also, the fitting is a standard 510 fitting. so most everything will work with it :)

It's a mechanical mod and a rebuildable dripping atomizer (RDA). Quite a step up from a 510.
I don't have one myself yet.
Put some juice in the "diaper" and give it a try.
Mechanicals are high performance but can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.
They have no built in safety and can cause fires and/or battery meltdowns/explosions.
Read up on batteries, safety and mechs.

It should have a standard 510 connector, but using a simple clearo would be a waste of it's ability to deliver high power and not really worth the extra precautions and knowledge needed with a mech.

Well you have a mech mod, looks like a k100 or kamry, with a rda the has a dragon coil build. Also referred to as a micro coil build with a poop in the diaper wick. Like the sound of nano dragon coil build better. The battery you have is an aw imr 18650. Can't read the print, but if you say it's a 2000 mha one, then it has a 10 amp limit. With a 1ohm build, that you claim you have, this will produce 17.64 watts with a freshly charged battery. You are good to go. The build will handle it. May have to play with your cotton densities and coil position, to get the best vape.

But, before you go vaping on a mech mod, you should know all this about what you have already. You should have a ohm meter, something to check the volts on your battery, a healthy respect and knowledge of what batteries can be used at the ohm build that you have. That is not a ecig that you are holding. That is a potential grenade that could blow up in your hand if you don't know what the heck you are doing.

You say it is a 1 ohm build right? How the frak do you know this? I sure as hell wouldn't use any build that someone else made without inspecting it, throwing it on my ohm meter, and knowing for sure that it measured .94 ohms and had no shorts. Then I would test pulse it, making sure there were not hot spots, heating up real well from the center out, and then wick it my self. I doubt that I would ever use someone else's build, unless it was an alexander Monday build, even then I'd be leery, without first inspecting and testing.

You see, the safety protection that comes with a mech mod and rda or rba is you, the vaper, you. Without knowledge and certain skills and equipment, there is no protection. Check out the mod section and battery section, and rba section, and become familiar and knowledgeable about what you have.

Woops, forgot to say, welcome to the forum, and congrats. This is the place to learn.

dixie, sounds amazing! im not a big fan of throat hitting ecigs, expecially for fruity flavors. I used to do clearo's and such from the vape shop, moved up to a tornado-tank and then dwindled off the vape trail lol. I got back on with this crazy monstrosity. It gives off a HUGE cloud of vapor and gives you a real nicotine high after a few good tokes.

DKP, Ive been using it to vape, just not messing around with it. My dad showed me how to make the coils and such, and it works great! It actually does have a safety to prevent pocket-firing, the button is on the bottom and has a reverse thread stopper (not sure what the word is for it). I am not exactly sure what cartomizers would work on it, I dont want there to be a drastic difference in the strength of the battery and the carto.

First off, welcome to ECF.
That's quite an upgrade! :D

So basically, what you have (as has been stated above) is a mech. That means it is about the same as having two wires on a battery with a connector for the coil (with push button activation). It's a direct circuit to the battery when the button is pressed.

So we always use good quality safe chemistry batteries in these. We also check if the button has a locking mechanism. If it does...use it...so the button doesn't get pushed and stuck "on" when you put it in a pocket or backpack or whatever.

Basically it is a "3.7 volt" e-cig. But if "follows battery voltage"...that means voltage is not regulated by circuitry and that it's 4.2 volts with a fresh battery, and drops from there down to about 3.5 volts where you want to stop using it and recharge. Don't over discharge the battery. It's a good idea to check the ohms of anything you screw onto it...stock or hand-made coils.

IT IS PERFECTLY FINE to use standard coils on these. It's great in fact. Just get some 1.8 ohm stuff and slap it on there. Will work great. The ohms can vary by device and your preference too....from 1.5 to 2.5 stock coils should all work.

For the RDA, you'll need to do some research and invest in coils and wick. Maybe use stock coils for now and read up a bit.

A multi-meter is a good investment for your toolbox as well as your e-cig use. It will measure ohms and check for shorts. There's some learning curve to that but it's pretty easy. They can be had all over the place for $25.00 average OK quality. Good ones are expensive but will last a lifetime (Fluke). You don't need a high-end one...just avoid the $5.00 specials because they aren't very accurate. Look for "digital and auto-range".

dice57- the mechanical mod says "Kecig K100+" in very faint lettering. I have also been playing with the coil position and cotton for a better vape. I dont really like a big throat hit, found with the air hole away from the coil it hits harder, so I always put the air hole directly in front of the coil. I found it hits smoother and lets me blow bigger clouds.

My dad gave me the run-down on how to keep this setup maintained, he would be able to tell you more about this setup, but basically just re-wick and new cotton when it gets burnt out is all I know and all I will do without more understanding. I have 2 of the 2000 mha batteries wich is what he instructed me to use. One is in use while the other either is either charging, or charged and waiting for use. I remember he used a meter to test it and it read out at 1ohm, and every new coil I put on I always test to make sure it fires evenly from the center of the coil :) I am always ready to learn about this stuff, I'm happy with the setup I have but im always looking for a new and improved vape :)
