I started vaping in 2009, and sadly returned to analogs early 2010. I've decided it's time to get back into it as numerous other quit attempts have failed miserably. The thing is, the technology has changed so drastically.

In advance, I already ordered some gear, so I don't need to be sold on anything, I just want to know how the things I purchased work. I ordered the Kanger Subox Mini, some samsung batteries, and a nitecore d2 charger. The batteries and charger are here already and the kit will arrive tomorrow. I have also purchased some eliquid, 90ml from Mt Baker Vapor, and 90ml from a local shop.

Now for the questions. The batteries and charger are here, so can I charge them today in anticipation of the kit's arrival tomorrow? Do I need to remove them off the charger as soon as they are charged or is it safe to leave them on until needed? What is the battery expectancy, will I need both batteries every day or should I just rotate daily? With proper care and with my following of instruction, how safe are the batteries? These warning labels are scaring me.

Thank you in advance for your help and support. Hope it sticks this time!

Welcome (back)!

Heck yeah! I'd charge those puppies up NOW!!!! My luck was that I'd get the mod and not the batteries, so I'd have to wait :(

I typically take my batteries off the charger as soon as the cycle is complete. Sounds like you have an awesome setup - I have the SubTank Minis (plenty of other mods, so I didn't need the actual Subox.) Make sure you prime the coil well, and start with lower power and work your way up to your sweet spot

Which Samsung battery did you purchase? Was it a 25r? If so, it's a great battery for your setup.
Do I need to remove them off the charger as soon as they are charged or is it safe to leave them on until needed?
Statistically speaking most battery incidents occur while charging. Here are some safety tips:

1. Remove batteries from the charger when they are done charging.
2. Don’t leave a charging battery unattended; if something goes wrong, you need to be there to deal with it.
3. Overnight charging is asking for trouble. You need to be awake should there be some problem.
4. Charge away from sources of heat or intense cold, and keep it away from flammable items and children!
What is the battery expectancy, will I need both batteries every day or should I just rotate daily?
Hard to say. Depends on how often you vape and what power level you vape at.
I have also purchased some eLiquid, 90ml from Mt Baker Vapor, and 90ml from a local shop.
What mg nic did you get? Most people have to reduce their nic level by ~50% when using higher wattage/lower Ω coils.

Well for starters you did the right thing in buying a charger, the on board subox one, never use that, I wouldn't trust it..
You can most certainly charge both sets of batteries today, you don't have to worry about pulling them off straight away, they will trickle charge just fine...but take them off if you spot them charged, on the safe side, sooner the better really and NEVER leave them on over night though. By Samsung, Im guessing Samsung 25r's (light blue), one of those should get you through a whole day but it's good you have a spare, when one runs out, charge the other and so on so your never left without a charged battery.. Good luck with the subox tomorrow, nice bit of kit..

Welcome back Ill. It's a good kit, what you chose. Looks and functioning wise there will be not problem for the gear to 'stick' :). It'll be up to the vaping in itself to see if it satisfies you. I don't know what strength e-liquid you chose, but if it's not working try a higher one too like 18, even 24 mg and see if it makes any difference ad later you can try lowering it. The reason why I say this is that I sometimes read about smokers trying vaping and going straight into vapor production and to some of them vaping doesn't stick because the atomizers used for maximizing vapor volume consume lots of e-liquid and the nicotine is lowered because of that and their nicotine needs are just not satisfied. Looking forward to hear your experience this second time :)

Thanks every who gave me some input. I am charging the batteries up now. Samsung 25r's was correct, sorry I thought I typed that in my initial post. I will be sure to prime the atomizer before use tomorrow and start off at lower watts. And also, thank you to everyone who gave me battery care advice as that was a new beast in itself. I'll be sure to update tomorrow and let you know what I think.

Something I have to mention, with these new vertical coils, don't over prime them, the old school dripping juice into the top of the coil isn't needed with these vertical ones, you do more harm than good, they end up flooded or gurgling. Going against what most tell you not to do...drip some juice into the juice holes and prime that way, then fill the tank and let it sit for 20 mins, close off the air flow and do a few primer pulls, start off at the lowest wattage (within the coils range) and take light pulls and build from there..

Forgot to mention two more things.

1. If you are traveling with loose batteries, make sure you put them in a battery box. Loose batteries in a purse/pocket can vent if they come in contact with coins/keys.

2. Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

I ordered a "battery pouch" from myfreedomsmokes when I ordered the kit. Should that be sufficient or do I need a case? Are they available at stores other that B&M vaping stores?

Your "pouch" should work fine as long as the battery doesn't come in contact with anything metallic. If you are traveling with more than one battery, a plastic box/case is recommended.

Amazon, ebay, sometimes even craft stores/walmart have plastic boxes that can be used for batteries.

Also, the batteries I bought were from Amazon.com, but they were verified and shipped by Amazon and not a 3rd party seller. Do I still need to be skeptical about these batteries?

    @Illness ........ I don't own that particular setup but I do know from the many scores of review videos I have watched that it is a very good mod and tank setup. The charger you selected is a good one for 2 battery charging of 18650's........ You are going to love that setup (at least I know I would) .......... I ditto what everyone else here has told you. Just make sure you start taking hits at low power ratings first and slowly work your power upwards.

    I recently purchased the same setup, and I absolutely love it! The new vertical coils give smother, richer flavor . I vape my 60/40 6mg juice at around 3.8 volts, or 24.5 watts depending on the flavor, and am very satisfied.
    I generally can vape all day on one battery, but carry an extra as well as my usb cord just in case. I also have a couple of subtank nanos that work well on my kbox mini when I want to change flavors. good luck this time.......I haven't had a cig since November....just had to find the right juice and setup.
