I am considering buying an e-cig...but when it comes to the nic strength and refills I am not sure what to get?? I usually smoke Camel no. 9's....which would be considered a "light" cig....and I have noticed if I go a long time time...five plus hours without smoking I will get a nic rush...and this is still after 13 years of smoking.....can someone please help me...and some advice on what ecig to get would be great...I am so confused...

Welcome to the ECForums! One thing you will find is that if you ask an opinion for hardware and liquids you will get the same number of opinions as there are hardware and vaping set-ups <g>.

I suggest you let people know what type of smoking you do now (where you smoke, chain smoking, smoking as a habit, nic addiction, relaxing, ritualistic, etc.), which can help you make a choice as to the hardware you may use to start vaping. I think there is a thread on the New Member Forum about lifestyle and hardware usage.

As for types of liquids, be sure to check some of the stickies about tobacco/cig flavors. Many times people will find that vaping is completely different. For me, I hated menthol cigs but loved (and still love) menthol for vaping. You might consider if you like sweets, mints, raw tobacco, etc. and something is probably available to try.

The best advice I can give is to succumb to the paralysis of analysis. Though it sounds trite, I think it is something many of us forget when considering taking up vaping.

I think it is something about the apparent "permanence" of e-cig hardware that makes us forget that after smoking carton of cigs all you are left with is a bunch of ashes and butts. We spend a similar amount of money to buy another carton that goes the same way. Most smokers wouldn't think twice about shelling out money for an additional carton of cigs if the one they had just bought was dropped in a puddle of water (maybe a bit hacked, but they would still buy it).

Look around, ask questions, then give it a try. Sorry for he long post-- just got off the phone with my sister-in-law (chain-smoker of 1 1/2 cartons per week) on her fourth week not buying an e-cig set-up for fear it won't be "right."

The fact that you are asking here is a great first step.

There are a LOT of different options out there.

Are you looking for something that looks similar to a cigarette or do you mind carrying around something a bit larger?

Also there are three main ways of getting your juice.

Some people "drip" which is where they literally drip their juice onto an atomizer

Some people prefer pre-filled cartos that they can just screw onto their battery and enjoy

Some people prefer empty carts they can fill themselves or even one with a hole in it and a "tank" around it.

If you are commited to starting vaping, something like an ego is a good place to start and there are plenty of different ones out there.

If you aren't 100% sure about vaping yet, I personally started out buy getting a Blu disposable at walgreens for like $10.

Give us a little info on how you are thinking you want to do this and we can give some great options.

Hi and welcome!! Buy a few small bottles with different strenghths and try them. I carried a carto of 24mg with me for strong cravings and used 18 for the rest of the day. I use 12 at night. I am finding that I don't need the 24 anymore and am fine with 16-18 during the day. I am going to start trying some 6-8 for night time use. (I chain vape at night) Good luck!

This is the best advice . Some small sample bottles of different strengths , but I was a Camel light smoker , and only needed a 12 mg . for most , and kept some 18 and 24 for the cravings . At this for about 9 months now , and I'm using 5 or 6 mg . most of the time and 12 mg . for the cravings , which are getting less frequent as time goes by . Good luck .

As to which e-cig to get, I'm gonna give you the usual advice. Don't get one that looks like a cigarette, as the battery doesn't last very long. Start with an eGo or eGo clone like the Riva 510. They are about the size of a sharpie, but the battey lasts lots longer, and there are lots of options for them. Check Liberty-Flights for prices and to compare prices from other vendors. Be sure to click the discount button at the top of Liberty-Flights page.
