I have been smoking analogs on & off since I was pretty young, and I did quit a few times over the years but knew I would go back to it. For the last year, I have been wanting to quit so bad but felt pretty hopeless! I tried ecigs a few years ago when they first came out (NJOY) but it was a piece of crap and never worked right. I have always smoked BH Deluxe Ultra lights, about a pack a day. I got a few blu disposables from walgreens to keep in the car, and I really felt like I could quit if I could switch to vaping.

For the last few weeks Ive been lurking, reading your posts, trying to understand all this. The terminology and the equipment, it's all pretty overwhelming! And so many suppliers too!

Finally ordered a kgo starter kit and a sampler from Virgin Vapor. I got it yesterday and got the batteries charged and I have been trying the different flavors. I was a little intimidated about the manual battery vs automatic, and the idea of eliquid instead of premade carts, but I didnt want to get a basic kit and then another more advanced one a month later after I got the hang of it. I think the blu disposables are a good way to start with vaping.

Last night when I started I was coughing my head off. The thing is so powerful, and also my technique is not good obviously. So now I am working on my technique and using the french vanilla. I definitely want to order some more samplers and figure out what kind of flavors are out there I might like. I think I would prefer something I little more complex and tobacco tasting to start. I have snuck out on the back patio a few times for an analog today!

Welcome and congrats on giving the vaping habit a shot. What mg level are your juices? I smoked lights for many years and 18's were too strong at first and 12 too weak so I mixed them. I tend to gravitate to tobacco flavors with vanilla mixed in. The kgo was my second set-up and I still use it as a backup. Great batt to start with. There are tons of people here who will help with any questions.

Good for you for giving it a shot. Certain flavors will choke me to death, especially if I vape too much of it. The nicotine level could be a bit too high for you. Virgin Vapors doesn't use PG, but that can give you too much throat hit, as well - just to keep in mind when looking at other vendors juice. Technique may be the issue, as well. Some folks smoke inhaling directly into the lungs, but with vaping you need to draw into the mouth and then inhale into the lungs. That's the way I always smoke, too, so I didn't have a learning curve there. If the flavor is too strong, you can purchase plain VG and dilute it a bit to weaken the flavor.

Stef, I wonder about the nicotine level in my juice too. I got all 18mg and wonder if I might like i better if I could vape more at a lower nic level. I also think Buggs may be right about the actual technique of vaping being different than smoking an analog cig. Read somewhere that the nicotine in vapor is absorbed in your mouth as opposed to your lungs, so you don't really have to rush the vapor in your lungs to get the same effect. I'll be sure to let you know if I find any remarkable juice flavors in my testing.

Thanks everyone for the support & ideas. I def think I need to lower to 12 mg to really get the technique right. When I draw in for more than 3 sec I think thats when I get the cough. I will also stick with low/no pg juices. I wish I could order like 100 samples from different suppliers and try them all! Over time, I guess I will be doing that. I really like all the flavors I have tried, but I think I need something a little more complex to keep me away from analogs to start, esp since the device I got is not like an analog at all. I keep looking at the tip like on the blu cigs but this one does not light up at the bottom.

The best tobacco flavor liquid is the Camel. I know Tobacco Hut sells them. Also, it is hard to switch to vaping from analog without doing what you do and cheating a bit. I feel like even though I get the nicotine from the electronic, I still miss the feeling of a real cigarette. Before I started vaping I smoked 10-15 a day, and a few times I tried switching to electronic and lasted 2 or 3 days then went back to traditional cigs. After several months I have found this is the best way to totally switch for me:

  • Start off smoking 1/2 the amount of cigarettes you did, and vape for the other 1/2. Do this for about a week.
  • Every 3-5 days, start subtracting one cigarette and slowly transition yourself from smoking less and vaping more.
Right now, I'm down to 2 cigarettes a day, one in the morning and one at night.

I think that is what I am doing too. I just started vaping yesterday at 4:00 (mail came at 3:30 and it took some time to work up the courage to actually turn this little device on LOL). Had a few analogs (getting the hang of this new language) this morning and vaped most of the day. Had a couple more analogs later this evening. Back to vaping. I know I will have another one before turning in for the night. Cold turkey would not work for me. I have a carton of cigs + a pack and my goal is to NOT buy another analog. The amount that I have already cut back is AMAZING, to say the least.

To the OP (original poster), what works for me is to fill my mouth, then inhale. I did notice that when I let the vapor go directly to my lungs....unpleasant feeling on the throat. Very drying to me anyway. Also, lots of water is what I am getting from the forums.

Good luck on your new adventure! Hmmm OUR new adventure LOL
