I know....I know.....I guess I'm the crazy sports fan of the group.....

So last night I attended the Phillies game and sat in the pouring rain to watch them get their asses handed to them by the rockies....and even though they lost I had a blast with my nephew. I am creating this thread to see who everyone else likes and maybe find some rivalries along the way....

I really don't know what they are going to do about their batting issues in Philly....if you can't score any runs you can't win any games..........great pitching is not going to help if you don't score...period....

I used my ecig last night at the ballpark....security came over once and I explained what it was....I told her that if she didn't want me to use it I wouldn't, but since we were in the section with nothing overhead...after it rained people pretty much cleared out of there anyway...

I wanted to add that the nosebleed seats we had at Citizens Bank Park were actually pretty awesome...not too shabby for 26 dollars each...

Well, I'm not a sports fan, but I was forced to go to a Mariners game last month. They saw my Ego in my purse at the gate, since they do a bag-check of everyone and informed me it could not be used inside. I spent my time eating and drinking instead. (Seattle passed an ordinance that you can't vape anywhere that smoking is prohibited...which is EVERYwhere).
We actually had really good seats that my DIL had aquired from her boss. 3rd row right at 1st base. It was fun, but honestly I was so uninvolved in watching the game that I can't remember who won, or who they were playing.

I forgot how much fun it is to go to baseball games...it's been...well...I'm not going to tell how long. I'll definitely be taking my nephew to another game or two this season. I was really mad that Vance Worley had been sent down and wasn't available to pitch after they realized Blanton was still broken :) ....I really wanted to see the rookie pitch in person...

I would be sorry about your Phillies, but they were playing my Rockies lol ;) We vape at Coors field when we go to Rockies games and don't really get any crap for it. Although we try to not make it to obvious and be up in people's faces about it.

I love going to baseball games. I lived in Chicago for a few years and lived 3 blocks north of Wrigley Field. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Being able to go to lots of games and hear the crowd every day was awesome.

Baseball is probably my favorite thing to do in the summer. Either go to games, or bbq with the game on.

I must admit; I'm not into baseball. :( But, when we lived in Chicago, we used to go to Cubs games a lot. Where did you live? Before we lived at Belmont and Broadway, we had an apt. at Rita and Addison. We used to walk to Wrigley Field a lot.

I live within walking distance of a baseball team in an "unaffiliated" league. By "unaffiliated," I mean the league isn't connected with MLB, although almost all the players have played at least AAA ball and many spent at least some time in the Bigs. The stadium is pretty nice... think "miniature stadium"... at a cost of $28 million, it's not bleachers and lawn chairs. (Bonus: it has the highest left field wall in organized baseball... not because someone wanted it to be higher than the wall in Fenway, but because the architects who designed the stadium goofed up and couldn't figure out how to fit a true left field into the available land).

I like it. It's not MLB, but it's $8 a seat and there's truly not a bad seat in the house.

That sounds like awesome cheap entertainment TNT :)

Well...it's pretty scary when your second baseman has to pitch the 19th inning....all of our pitchers rocked it last night...(Baez shocked me with an awesome 5 innings and allowed only 1 hit), but especially Wilson Valdez (2nd baseman) who got three players to fly out in the 19th inning for the win....

On top of that it was awesome to see our Chooch (catcher) playing third base and hustling like a freight train to try and catch a foul ball that I don't think Polanco (third baseman playing 2nd) would have attempted had he still been playing third..... WTG PHILLIES :toast::w00t:

Sorry to hear that wrigleyfan....I can say I've stuck with the Phils through all the good and the bad....it'd about time the good times showed up :) and IT'S BEEN A HELL OF A COUPLE YEARS :)

Grew up four blocks from Wrigley Field. Been a Cubs fan off and on my whole life. Presently off as they are so bad again I just can't stand it. Not like it was the first time but 2003 was particularly tough and souring as well.

Yeah, well, I know. It's not that I'm not a fan anymore it's more like I'm not paying rapt attention to every single game and getting depressed when they lose like in the past. Who has the time or energy? ;)

They will always have a place in my (broken) heart though.

Edit: Maureen if you've never been to Wrigley you should follow your Phils to town this summer. You'll have a great time even if they don't pound the Cubbies, which is likely!

Maureen - You would love Chicago! We love visiting there every Christmas/New Years. I'm missing the city since we weren't able to go there this past holiday season.
