I bought this 905 from Value Vapor:
Improved V4 DSE-905 Screwdriver Kit (Silver) DSE-905, 905, electronic cigarette, e-cig, nicotine, quit smoking, tobacco-free, e-liquid, stop smoking, electronic cigarette kit, starter kit [DSE-905 Kit-Silver] - $44.99 : ValueVapor.com, Discount Elect

This is supposedly the new and improved DSE 905, I have no way of comparing to the previous models as this is my first 3.7V mod.
It came nicely packaged with 2 batteries, charger, 5 full carts and the instruction manual. After charging a battery (about 3 hours) I gave it a vape, first off I should say I made up my own cart with blue foam and my own juice. My first impression was not that great, very little flavor and vapor. I'm a believer that an atty needs a little break in time before it starts working properly so I gave it a couple hours and it did get better both flavor and vapor but I was still not impressed. This is the SLB atty with the round washer.
Now this model does not have the on/off switch and I like that. It has the red/orange led, which I was suprised that it didn't have the blue led that I thought came with the newer versions. It has a cutoff between 8-12 seconds depending on your battery strength, not crazy about having a cutoff but I can live with that, normally 10 seconds on average.
Well not being happy with my vapor production I decided to put a Joye 510 atty on the 905 using a 901 to 510 adaptor from Mad Vapes. This made a huge difference for me, it's now producing good flavor and vapor.
I've had this unit for 10 days or so and I really like it, the battery life is great, lasts me all day easy. I bought a TrustFire 3.7v 14500 900mah battery for it and it seems to hold a little higher voltage for awhile compared to the stock batteries, it's a little longer and wider but still fits in the stock charger, I will be getting a few more of these batteries.
As far as the cleaning cycle issue that was had with the earlier models I haven't experienced that whatsoever.
All in all I'm pretty happy with the 905 and would recommend this 3.7 mod to anyone on a budget, $50 to your door not a bad price.

I got a v4 905 from MyVapeStore.com today, and I'm less than thrilled at the safety features - there are none! No kill switch, no vent holes, and it ships with unprotected batteries. This is basically a little brass pipe bomb.

I knew from the get-go that it didn't have a kill switch, but that's not really a deal breaker. You can always remove the atty for an extra level of protection if you want. But the fully sealed body is not good, and the unprotected batteries are inexcusable. Everybody is going mental about small-time mod makers and safety, but here is a widely available commercial mod that breaks every one of the new safety rules.

I'm going to properly dispose of the unprotected batteries and drill a vent hole or two in the base so I can actually feel safe carrying this thing around. I strongly advise anybody not willing to take these steps to stay away from this mod.

There's a version 4 of this already?
:lol::lol:
I had a 2 and a 3. Was better than standard batteries, a "foot in the door" to mods, I guess.
I think my batteries were "special" ones, I think that's what the manual/batteries or whatever said(and no idea what that meant). I wonder if protected ones can fit in there, there is probably enough room. If I can remember correctly. :p
Thanks for the review and good luck with your device and please be safe with it. ;)

Yeeeeaaaahhhhhh..........

I'm no advocate of unprotected batteries and still think that's an absolutely ludicrous assessment... with the right care and presence of mind, you can use mods like this safely...

I have a V3, and what you fail to realize is that it has a protection circuit built into the electronics of the mod. From what I understand it has short circuit protection as well as over discharge protection.
Since it does not charge batts, there is no need for an overcharge protection. In theory, (one that I don't care to test) it should be safe to use unprotected batteries in the 905. Your charger better have overcharge protection built in however. (And realy, protected batteries aren't that much more expensive. Its worth a extra buck or so to be safe.)

I do agree that it can use a couple of vent holes in the bottom just to be extra safe.

The difference between the V3 and the V4 is supposed to be the elimination of the "Cleaning Cycle bug".

Well said. What's the difference where the protection circuit is as long as there is one. I would also assume the 905's is a bit more sophisticated than the ones found on batteries. Key words being short circuit protection. Do we really need 2 protection circuits? Do folks who use American mods add a second one to the mix?

Except that this model has a known tendency to go into a "cleaning cycle" at random for 20-30 sec at a time. I know how not to blow up an unprotected battery, but my concern is that the 905 doesn't. And considering that it doesn't have a kill switch or vent holes, it all adds up to a serious potential problem.

I wouldn't make that assumption. Considering all the problems with past versions of the 905, I'm not going to trust this thing with unprotected batteries. A protected battery costs what, $2 more than an unprotected one? Why take the chance?
