I use cotton ball wicks in vertical coils in one of my DIDs. It works great and I get huge, thick clouds and no problem with wicking. I found that it's best (for me) to have some draped over the side of the coil like this...
rather than this...
it seems to wick much better. Threading that cotton down through the coil and into the tank can be tricky. The way I do it is I twist the cotton to get it down into the coil.. when it peeps out the bottom, I use needle nosed tweezers to slowly pull it bit by bit through the coil and into the tank. You just need to make sure your coil isn't sitting right on the wick hole and there is a bit of room to get the tweezers in there. There's not much room but it works well and only takes a couple minutes. Here is an example..
The above picture shows the tank full and the cotton wet.. I pull the cotton through when it's dry (I just took the pic to show how it's done) Cotton in a genesis is still positional but not near as positional as mesh. I still vape with the wick facing towards me and the natural tilt while vaping feeds the coil very well. No need to purposely over tilt. Also I try to get a lot of cotton down into the tank, that way, when you feel you need a "new" wick, all you have to do is pull some up from the tank through the coil.
Hope this helps
