It's likely not going away, but with nearly 10k posts per day, we hardly rely on the Outside. I take it you had a bad experience?
Many, many large message boards have "general" chat sections and they are often the busiest because people have thoughts and lives away from vaping.
Also, your statements contradict each other: first, you said it's a drain on admin resources, then you say that we introduced the rules to ignore the issues in that section. With due respect, which is it? The rules were introduced in order to prevent us from having to constantly deal with what goes on in there, so now members go in there at their own peril, and we only deal with very serious problems within.
The Lounge fulfills the "general" chat section requirement.
I do not believe for a second that Outside is now completely unmonitored. Nope. I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night.
The "new rules" have provided more latitude in an area which already had TOO much.
If ECF has "nearly 10K posts per day", then it can well do without an area which is INTENDED to cause ill-will.
It would be very interesting to see how many of the Outside Big Boys and Big Girl(s) come back if Outside was to be temporarily shut down for, say, 60 days. After turning into gelatinous emotional pools on the floor, they would just find another outlet. And ECF would be better for it. After all, it is "hardly" relied-upon, right?

This. You don't have to click on it. In fact, there is a warning that the Outside is not like the rest of the forum.
I really don't understand the problem with the Outside? It's not monitored, it's not indexed by search engines, and it has a clear warning when you enter. I like having a place to freely discuss ideas and opinions not related to vaping.

What's with all the vitriol? Honestly. You are not out there. Why should you care? And to call us such horrible names. We don't come into the Lounge and attack, do we? No, we don't. That's why there IS an OUTSIDE. And NO ONE has to go there if they choose not to. We are grateful to have a place to debate and discuss and even battle one another to try to get our points across. As long as everyone consents who goes in there, NO problem. Sorry you feel so strongly about this, but, really, you don't need to go out there. Ever. Enjoy the Lounge. I know you are loved there by many. That's cool. Let us have our place.

There's something to be said about the "mouse" on my computer. It appears I can make it "click" on anything I want and not "click" on things I don't. I thought this was a universal system and didn't need explaining.
i hope the tolerance and camaraderie will extend to the new forum incarnation too. Ban this - ban that - delete that, more leeway than me etc.
