In my cubicle at work

Since I started vaping I have been vaping pretty regularly during my day at work right at my cubicle. I have high walls and no neighbors so they only way for anyone to know is if they walk up to me mid-exhale. That being said, I'm not really sure I would vape openly. I'm sort of embarrassed about it honestly. I feel like if people see you vaping they don't usually ask what it is, and just make a bunch of assumptions.

I really enjoy being able to vape freely without taking smoke breaks anymore but I am not sure how people would react if I did get caught.

Just blow it under your desk. That's what I do... You never know when someone will show up by your cube.

my boss likes that I vape rather than taking smoke breaks, so it's a open thing in the office in which I work. Plus, they know what kind of day I'm having by how thick the fog is lol

My company is sort of tight ... when it comes to most things, I wish I worked somewhere a bit more progressive.

Since I am the IT guy, I have my own office and I also have the server room I can go to if necessary. I have not told many people here that I am vaping and no one has complained to me about it either. I don't make it obvious but I don't try real hard to hide it either. I just sit at my desk (hidden behind my wall of 3 monitors ) and vape away. Only one person, my boss, has asked about my device. When I first started vaping I was using an ego-t and I had one plugged into my laptop to charge. He asked what it was and I told him it was an e-cig and becuase of it, I had not had a real cigarette in over a week. He asked "so plugging it into your computer makes you think you are smoking?" I went on to explain it a bit further.

I thought for sure that the people in the cubilces right outside my office would be able to smell it. Either they don't smell it or they just don't say anything. I just sit here all day doing my work and puffing on my lavatube, happy as a pig in slop.

There was one other person that asked about it. One of the ladies that works in the admin department. She smokes and wants to quit so I explained a bit about what they are and how they work. She seems very interested in trying them, but part of me is concerned that she will start doing it at her desk too which is not in an enclosed office. I'm concerned that it may cause issues and in turn screw up what I am doing. Selfish? Yes, but, well... no buts. I'm just being selfish.

Great story! I've been dipping since I was 13 and picked up smoking around 18. In school we vape in the locker rooms, stairways, and bathrooms. There's only about 10 of us that vape though. I'd say only 3 of us (including me) actually have been addicted to nicotine though.

There was one day in auto shop class were we were bleeding the brakes on a math teacher's F150. And I was in the cab pressing the brakes when I needed to, vaping away. I was lucky to be able to do it because the teacher had 25% tints on the front windows and we had it lifted pretty high.

In that case, I would probably keep doing what you are doing. My motto is better to ask forgiveness than permission.

And don't worry, the vape shyness will slowly wear off.

Heh, there are 4 of us in my office that vape at our desks, and our Senior VP isn't quite sure what to do about it, so he just ignores it and no one makes a big deal about it...
After about 3 months of vaping at my desk, (which is right outside my managers office) I go in to talk to my manager about something else, and at the end of the conversation he says "So... Uhmm... Did I see fake smoke coming from your cube?"
I said "Maybe. I use my e-cigarette at my desk, but I try not to exhale a big cloud."
He got a funny look on his face (The same look he gets every time he has to "coach" me) and before he could respond, I said "Don't worry, our VP is aware that there are several of us doing it at our desks."
So he asked "What did he say about it?"
My response was "We don't have a rule about it, and he's trying to figure out what to do... Which means that he'll forget, and in 6 months it'll become his #1 priority, and we're all prepared with paperwork and web sites to help guide him to the correct knee-jerk reaction"

My bosses are very anti-smoking. I work for a small company and they have even offered free stop-smoking therapy and hypnosis! When I started vaping at work, I told them it was a personal vaporizer I have used to quit smoking, and they were thrilled! So I vape away as needed. I will say I don't do it if there are visitors or clients in the office (which isn't often), because they may get the wrong idea.
