I've just recently started vaping for about a month now and I just bought a brand new starter kit (EGO) and it's a kangertech protank 2 with a smok adjustable voltage battery, the problem is when I first got the kit my spare coil from the kangertech didn't work when I tried switching it, when I press my button to vape it just flashes..the battery is completely charged too..I've been getting this alot from new coils I've been buying..every 5 new coils I buy only 1-2 works..the rest I just throw away..can someone tell me what's wrong? And should I buy a whole new setup? I really wanna quit smoking real cigarettes so I'll be really grateful if anyone can help me solve this.

Try, if you can, Using your ego with another tank. If there is a B&M in your area go there and ask questions, maybe they can test it for you or help diagnose the problem. From my experience, if the your Ego just flashes it's cause there is a short in the coil. Kinda of strange for you to get that many faulty coils though.
Just my :2c:

Obviously, this is a connection problem. You can get bad coils, invariably poorly manufactured clones, that can perform as poorly as you suggest. However, 40% good heads is poor even for the clones. Be careful about over-tightening the toppers. This can cause the center pin to be pushed down where no coil will make proper connection. Take a toothpick and run it around the head and see if you can get the center pin to lift. Juice on the coil, as another poster mentioned, can cause a connection problem. Not properly screwing the coil head down can cause this and several other problems.

Process of elimination is key. Try another topper and see if you get the same problem. Try another battery with your topper and see if you have a problem. From these tests, determine if it is the battery or the topper. One needs backups (Rule No. 1). My two cents. Good luck!

Hi ya Chongy .. Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping.. and Learning more than you ever wanted to know.. :) ... I was reading other places and it sees that the variable voltage batteries some times have issues with certain ohm coils. Save the coils that appear not to work in a baggy. That will save you a couple bucks if the issue is the way the battery perceives those coils. Most vapers don't like having to wait for a battery to charge when wanting a vape. So . . . I'd simply suggest a second battery eGo style for a back up. See if that works.
Keep on Vaping :)
Blessings and Joy,
Bliss

Yea I'm thinking about grabbing a second battery, yea my new coils I have them just in case it's the battery that is causing my tank to not vape, what do you think about the EVOD?

People say the EVOD is a good solid vape; it uses the outer eGo threads on the eGo type batteries just as the mini protank does.

The Smoktech ARO looks like a pyrex version of the EVOD.

What I have in mind as of right now is the EVOD battery with an aspire bdc, is that a good setup?

I think you will find that the replacement coils are going to end up costing more in the long run than the tank itself;

so I would be looking at the replacement coils more closely if the recurrent expenditure is a major concern.

The question to ask is whether you can expect to keep finding replacement coils for the tank you got.

I have two eGo-C batteries, a 400mAh and a 1100mAh Twist. I also have a 600mAh EVOD. They all work.

The one thing I don't like about the EVOD is that the button is flush. When I pick it up for a vape, I can never find the button without looking.

The VV eGo-C Twist didn't seem much use, until I got a ProTank II and put a 1.8 ohm coil into it. Kanger recommend running that on 3.3V, and I find they are right; the flavour is better.

The EVODs are really good in my opinion. Thats what I started with and still use on occasion. I have not had one failure with the coils that I have used in my PTs or EVOD tanks. Just my opinion.

Do you toss your coils or do you clean them or rebuild them?
