warning small wall of text, if too much to read with my horrible punctuation please skip to the last bit as i did my best to punctuate properly.
i've been planning on a mech mod since i build my flashlight a few weekends ago. luckily for me the plumbers at work were doing some main line repairs this week and had about 1- 1 1/2 feet of 3/4 copper headed to the scrap yard. offered up a quarter and a can of coke and it was mine!
now i stopped at the local hardware shop looking to find pieces for a switch. i have seen the one video on here with the compression spring surrounding the battery as a switch, and i feel that may not be the best for me. i do have a 4a push button switch from the 3 pack i got for my flashlight but i was wanting something a bit more... mechanical
i have looked at a few different designs and as for aesthetics i would like to have a side firing bottom switch similar to the sigelei #8. as for the mechanics of how it works i believe i have a decent understanding.
where the red is my common ground, making contact with the blue of the casing
the pin is insulated from the cap by the green insulator, the teeny tiny locking nut in purple and a fairly stiff, but still easily compressed spring in black...
I am confident that I can do the main bits internally ( insulating the pin from the rest of the cap), but as for the button portion itself any ideas would be grateful. I am a bit stumped as to how to get a threaded bolt to slide smoothly through and still maintain contact.
