Sticky button, metal chard in switch, Collapsed spring, damaged battery wrapping, positive side of battery touching the top cap and not the positive pin, hybrid connection with positive that doesn't stick out enough... Just off the top of my head

using a tank with interchangeable coil heads (i.e kanger protank) and tightening down the tank too much - causing the center pin of the coil head to get squished in the insulator and make contact to a short
Thanks for the info, I use an RDA but I hope it helps people who use tanks! I'll spread the word haha

Can someone explain how a short happens in a 4Nine mod? I'm picking mine up pretty soon, and I've heard that it has a delrin ring to prevent any shorts, but still I'm seeing people say they are getting shorts. Is the battery supposed to make contact with only the 510 conn of the atomizer only? Also since it's a magnetic switch, I heard if it shorts, the magnet will die and just drop? Or does a short kill the battery, or the mod, or both? I'm a bit confused on this subject as well. Thanks !

4Nine is a hybrid mod, the "Problem" with Hybrid mods is you HAVE to have a tank/atomizer with a semi sticking-out possitive pin. that pin is what touches the positive terminal battery DIRECTLY. if the pin is flat/recessed under the 510 threads slightly on the atomizer, it will cause the negative of the tank to make a direct short with the positive of the battery terminal.

if your getting a hybrid mod - LOOK UP ALL SAFTEY FORUMS regarding it.

Thanks for the info, so if I get a short, will my mod/rda/battery not be useable again? I've heard that the battery will get very hot and die, the magnets in the mod will just drop, the coil in the RDA will pop. I'm just curious as to what will happen if a short occurs and what will it render to be useless after. I'll be extra careful to see if the 510 pins sticks out a bit, I'm glad I bought both button top and flat top just to be safe haha

Depends on the damage... Springs can be replaced, so can magnets... I do have a veritas that I forgot to lock up the switch before setting it back down... When I got back to it, the driptip had melted into the rda and the cotton burnt... Could never get the scorched smell out so I stopped using it

Don't forget to check conductivity in new atties also. Without a coil, there shouldn't be any.

... just thinking back to the Kraken-clone scare some time ago. Burrs and/or crappy drilling made the center pin contact the center tube. Could potentially happen to a lot of atties... but I don't think it has. Better safe than sorry, tho!

1:I've heard that the battery will get very hot and die
2: the magnets in the mod will just drop,
3: the coil in the RDA will pop.

all this depends on how long the short has occured.

1: if you put your setup together and notice it get hot before using, you have the chance to unscrew the battery - this will save the battery ---- most occasions you have enough time to remove the battery before it reaches thermal meltdown and is completly unuseable/safe

2: i dont own mods but i read like crazy, i cant remember off the top of my head the correct info but i beleive with a magnet mod swich - yes the magnets will die, there is no way to avoid it when a short occurs, but as some one mentioned you can buy replacement magnets.

3: this is just as saveable as the battery, it depends how long the short was occuring. it probbably will scortch your juice/wick, but the coil should not pop unless the short was going on so long that your tank/dripper ran out of liquid to cool the coil.
