Inconsistent builds that measure identical?

I am scratching my head a bit here. I can build my protanks with 3mm silica and 32ga kanthal to about 2.5 ohms and get a nearly perfect vape now. I also use factory 2.5 ohm builds with good results. But every time I try to build on the Igo or the kayfun I get a strange harshness. My builds measure the same on every device, I have played with the wicking and coil placement but it still gives me this. It feels like I have used a stronger nic strength. The vapor production and flavor does not change. The initial throat hit doesnt really change. But when I vape either of the rebuildables my lungs hurt. It is strange. Everything about the builds are seemingly identical but the igo and kayfun hurt me every time.

Varying the wattage does nothing to help the harshness but does change the vapor production. I don't understand it. I could see getting more harshness if the vapor production changed. But how can the vapor stay the same and still give me more burn?

I am using the same materials in the same way. The only thing that changes is the topper I build on. The igo is slightly worse than the kayfun if that tells you anything. I have even varied the ohms trying to get it to do better but the harshness doesn't seem to change.

You don't say at what nic strength you're vaping at, I'll bet your nic is too high for the RBA/RDA. Try lowering your nic level. When I started on RBA/RDA I was vaping at 18mg on a protank mini & I knew I would have to lower the nic for the RDA. Tried some 12mg in my Nimbus RDA & boy was that harsh. I couldn't understand how everyone was vaping these things. Dropped my nic down to 8mg then I understood what all the hoopla was about, best vape I'd had upto this point. 8mg is all I vape now whether it be RBA/RDA or protanks, I'm considering going down to 6mg soon.:2c:

When i vape on my Protank everything i use seems to be dulled down a little bit. I have rebuilt my coils in them as well to try and fix this which it does slightly. I noticed when using any atomizer rather it be an RDA or tank system if the area around the coil is bigger or your air holes are bigger you seem to get more of a throat hit. Air flow could have a lot to do with it. Also if your using more wick in your Kayfun and IGO build that could be your answer. The more wick = more vapor = more throat hit or that burn sensation your feeling. A friend of mine had the same issue and we just dropped his Nic level a bit and that fixed his problem. VAPE ON!

Have you tried to lower your resistance with the kayfun build and see if it might help? I build my kayfun and taifun both at anywhere from 1.0 to 1.3 and I get a really good vape. I'll build a micro coil for both and it's worked out really nicely. For me, it's 6 wraps of 24 gauge Kanthal wire over a very small about 3/4 inch drill bit. Then I compress the coil even more with tweezers and use a torch to heat it up red hot, then I place it in water. This tempers it and helps it keep its compressed state. Then I wick with either 100% organic unbleached cotton or sterile cotton. I consistently get about a 1.0 doing this method. It gives a great vape, nice flavor and thick vapor with both kayfun and taifun. Nothing harsh about it. You might expire mentioned a bit and see if by changing the resistance up it might help and give you the vape your looking for. Also you might consider lowering your pg level if it's too harsh as well. I wish you the best and hope this helps a bit and you get this figured out so you can enjoy your kayfun.

I am using 18mg most of the time. 12mg is the lowest I have other than the 0mg peach that I use for cloud chasing on the igo. I am rocking that now actually. It looks like my house is on fire and is delicious. It is still a little on the hot side. But then again this is a .7ohm on a mech.

I currently have a 1.5ohm build in my kayfun with the 12mg juice and it is still kicking my chest like a horse. I just assumed that as long as the vapor production and feel of the vape stayed similar that it would give similar results but maybe I was wrong. I suppose my next order will have a 6mg bottle in it to try.

with both the kayfun and igo, the placement of the build in relation to the air intake, will effect the throat hit. On the Kayfun, the higher the build the harsher the throat hit. Try pushing your build closer to the air intake. I build vertically on the Russian, so air is always smooth and perfect. lol.

On the igo, you are just going to have to move the build around till it hits right for you. Some like the air closer to one end of the coil than the other to help air flow dynamics.

It's one of those damn vape fix all's, "And the #1 answer to fixing vape problems's is.!!!"

Ding!....... just keep playing with it till it's just right........

Vape long and Prosper.!!!

1: How are you measuring ohm?

2: Aren't you using 28 gauge on the igo and kayfun? Or are you putting the same 32 gauge coil ?

3: Are you using cotton on the igo and kayfun?

If everything else is the same- gauge ohms wick; then the only diffence should be airflow.
