Are there any mechanical mods out there below US$50 that are good for dripping? It seems like plastic ones always have seam down the middle which scares me that liquid will leak inside. Prefer either 18650 or 18350.

I have had 2 eGo's die on me because of liquid leaking into battery chamber and fizzleing out on a cloud of stinky smoke. I am now not an ego fan :(, and do not want another one. .... but I do love my Reo Grand. I'm just looking for a simple backup device, for dripping/cartos/tank

I don't think that counts as a mechanical mod. It has wires.

How mechanically inclined are you? You can make a mechanical mod in about 15 minutes for less than $10 with a short peice of copper tube, 2x copper tube caps, an atomizer connector, and a barrel nut and bolt. No wires, so soldering... They are extremely simple, and used to be super popular in the modders forum.

They've arranged for the manufacturer to add vent holes, but are still waiting for the new shipment of "fixed" units to arrive. So, they're out of stock right now. Once they're back in stock, they should be fixed (have air holes for venting).

Okay, good to know they got the safety issues resolved and everything is fixed.

A sealed shorty extension is the easy way to keep the juice out. One new mechanical mod out of China is the UDT-L, which has two tube components allowing for 18350 and 18650 vaping. It should be showing up soon. Update Clearomizer Mod Colored Smoke Cigarette Udt-l - Buy Colored Smoke Cigarette,E Cigarette,Clearomizer Product on Alibaba.com

Even mechanical mods will be affected by juice leaks through the connector - they'll need a regular tear down and cleaning to maintain a good connection. Good luck!

If you are having an issue with stuff dripping into the eGo; I assume it's leaking onto the Positive Post!? You need to be vigilant and clean the juice and moisture off as much as possible. I'm pretty OCD about checking mine every ten or fifteen minutes when I'm using. I find some I wipe it out with a paper towel. THEN I take a piece of paper and a tooth pick to soak anything else left behind between the positive post and the sides of the 510 Threading.

Thanks all for the input, I think mechanical is just a better way to vape. I do try and clean it regularly but both times it happened while vaping. I'm not sure there was much I could do. I thought about a sealed 510-510, or 510-eGo adapter, but I'd rather get a mechanical mod if I can get one reasonably priced and say goodbye to the eGo mod. They just aren't that great to begin with. Plain jane, and always tipping.

if you ever get an ego again get one of those extension post that bring the connection about an inch further up and out. They have shorter ones too. That way none of the juice or condensation gets in there.

I wipe mine pretty regularly. And when trying to get Some Clearos to work properly with this DK juice I use the connection get's totally flooded with juice. I wipe it up again and use the paper towel or toilet paper and tooth pick method to get everything else up from the sides of the post and the mod.

I was wanting to get some cheap 5 Volt or perhaps a box mod with a bottom feeder.
