I have come to vaping late in the game, June 2015. I'm discovering that all the really good gear (IMO) was before my time.
With the coming vapocolypse I recognize the need to have some mods with replaceable batteries. But have NO interest in the newer stuff. I have a Cloupor mini plus and I'm not the least bit impressed.
I own an E-Huge that I won in a MadVapes contest. Basically a big fat 26650 Vamo. I love everything about it except the fact that it's freaking HUGE. So Vamo is at the top of my list. Also considering the Gripper.
I'm sure there are other Comparable mods that I've never heard of. I'd appreciate suggestions. Inexpensive 3-6v, single 18650 regulated mods. Stuff that was engineered specifically for my type of vape.
Just something to mount my 5ml Evod-esque T3XL tanks on.

I use a Sigelei 30 Watt Mini, which I love. It does adjust by wattage (although it reports the voltage it'll use), so that may or may not work for you.

The Smok VMax fits the bill, and it's a tube mod just like the Vamo (just a bit more stylish to my eye).

These days, there aren't many VV mods left! VW seems to have won the battle (and really, it does make a bit more sense to the neophyte as VV's adjustment is non-linear).

Thanks @MorpheusPA both the Sigelei and Vmax look like good options. VW isn't a prob. For some reason when I started looking into this all the 18650 VW units seemed to have a lower limit of 8 watts which is pretty much the top end of my preferred vape range. I have an eGrip V1 that never leaves its minimum 8w setting.

While checking out your suggestions I stumbled across something else I found quite interesting. Should the vapocolypse ever actually materialize having a drawer full of these along with a good power bank might not be a bad idea for myself and other Tootlers.

I have the same wattage floor problem! My preferred vaping range is 4.5 - 5.5, and it's rare that I go above that, so I need a device that can go down pretty far.

Almost all the Sigelei units do, and I have the Sigelei 30W Mini as my everyday device. I also have a Sig 75W as a backup. The Sig units go down to 5.0 watts, which I find to be tolerable.

The eVic VTC Mini goes down to 1 watt, so that fits the bill too. I have one of those in the mail.

That passthrough looks great! The only consideration is to make sure you have a power source that can supply the necessary amperage...

Not the cheapest, but should be quality for you. A Provari v2.5. They are about $80 now, but a year ago were $200. You can often get good deals on used ones as well, in the classifieds here.

You might look at the Hexohm if a dual battery box is something you want. VV only, long battery life. There are clones on FT, but I have no idea how good or bad they are. However, these are mods that should be repairable in the future with simple boards that can be bought at Mouser. The authentic has a lifetime warranty, but will they be in business after regulations?

Thanks @roxynoodle. A used Provari might be a consideration. Dual battery doesn't appeal to me. I'm a K.I.S.S. type. Keeping track of a battery marriage and who slept on which side of the bed every night doesn't make sense to me unless you actually require that kinda power which I don't.

I do enjoy the extended battery life :)

If an internal battery mod was what you wanted I would say the istick 50W. That thing has the longest battery life I've ever seen. I think it goes down to 2v as well. The early ones did have some issues although mine are all still kicking, but the newer ones seem up to par.

However, I think you're a Provari person. And even at $80 they are a good buy for someone who wants a regulated tube mod that will last a lot longer than a Vamo. A good mod for the upcoming regulations. Probably 5+ years out of it if you treat it decently.

I can recommend a Subox Mini Kit.

My wife got a subox mini kit and I'm quite impressed with what you get. A mod, color matched sub tank, 2 replaceable coils 1 at .5 ohms - 1 at 1.5 ohms, RBA section, spare O-rings, the little blue screwdriver and Organic Japanese cotton.

Although the subtank mini doesn't give as much flavor as a Kayfun at 7-10 watts it's still very good. Your going to want flat top batteries and if you ever want to try the higher wattages make sure the batteries you get can handle the current.

Just because a mod can do 30, 40, 50 or more watts it doesn't mean you have to use it at the higher wattages. I have mods that can go up to 65 watts but I rarely go above 8 watts myself.

No thanks.

@Foggy Road Thanks for the tip on the VV passthrough, I just ordered two of them for the Vapeocalypse box. I figured that, if I mate that with an 18650 backup pack, I can continue to use my batteries but also have some mobility.

Post, y'know, a ton of pen style and box mods dying on me, so figure 2020 or so...if even then. :)
