On the question of batteries. I have just finished reading the thread about batteries on ECF and I am a little overwhelmed--this is not my area expertise or knowledge...to say the least. I have a lot of questions but will only ask a few and hope someone can fill me in with the rest of the info I need to know or be concerned with. There was too much info about batteries blowing up and it sort of freaked me out.

1) Should I get a volt meter and check the batteries out to pair them up? Help me out with this one. I did get the idea that one needed to keep batteries "paired"--don't mix during usage and charging.

2) What protections are built into the infiniti/battery to lessen any disaster?

3) Whatever you do, don't do this?

4) Is Notcigs the only place to get replacement batteries for the infiniti?

thanks,

OK lets start with this , there is a site called Battery university Quote "
Considering the number of lithium-ion batteries used on the market, this energy storage system has caused little harm in terms of damage and personal injury. In spite of the good record, its safety is a hot topic that gets high media attention, even on a minor mishap. This caution is good for the consumer because we will be assured that this popular energy storage device is safe " also read this Is lithium-ion the ideal battery?

Ok after all that , I will answer your questions
1. I never have and have never had any issues , some people think this is a great thing to do others say it makes no difference. 99% of batteries will measure the same voltage you would have to measure the current specs and discharge them and measure time , In other words you need a battery test station to do this !.
2. The 14430 battery we sell is fully protected for over current over / under voltage during charge and discharge ( as safe as they can be right now )
3. SHORT them out ~!
4. No BUT many of the 14430 batts on the market do NOT have the top button on them they are flat tops and will NOT work in the Infinity .

I hope this answers your questions with out over whelming you !!!! :vapor:

How I roll.....Mostly I use a pipe for convenience but sometimes,,,,Yes I roll......

Find a firm flat surface, {tabletop, counter top, floor}...and a thin piece of wood{ruler,yardstick or in my case a wooden incense tray...note a plastic ruler will work fine as long as the surface is smooth}. I slapped that incense tray down on the batt and rolled it back and fourth. Use a little pressure here and roll....I unscrewed the end cap and tested my progress...They fit good now...

The whole battery thing....Well I think the Buzz is protected as well...Lady Bov has asked about the Infinity....I assume so but would like too see the "Official Answer". I know some people stack the same two the same way every time...Top always on top...etc....Now the chargers available with the Infinity I've used since my mod days started...So yes I do run them in pairs...I keep two chargers going at all times and use the set as a set....I've charged more than a few and don't worry about stack orientation...I call that Mind :censored: ...and I try too avoid that at all costs...

Mike,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

So do you recommend getting a volt meter? I saw cuseguy got readings for his infinity as follows:

It only took me a day to find them! They are on the top side of the wheel, not on the grooves where the white line is. You really have to look to see them. These are the readings I got at each number.
1 = 3.31V
2 = 3.62V
3 = 4.06V
4 = 4.35V
5 = 4.7V (white line)
6 = 5.2V
7 = 5.5V
8 = 5.9V
9 = 6.2V
10= 6.2V

Is this what I can expect, or will it vary from each device and battery?
Also, how do I short them out or not short them out?

I really appreciate your help. Sorry for being a PITA. I won't bother you anymore about this. I am just going to wait to get it in the mail and vape.

Cheers,

Cheers,

The Infinity has over current and over temp protection , No need to get a voltmeter BUT they are kind of cool ?? you know the voltages at the settings on the wheel . ( it can vary from unit to unit slightly , about .5 volts at the top of the range 5.5 volts )

Shorting out the batteries is hard to do , if the cover on them gets broken that is the easiest way so keep an eye on the covers .
it is NOT A problem ! no question is a BAD question.

That thread and the information came about after the chuck was first made and people were using unprotected batteries in them. They would have a switch stick and a couple of them blew up. Not really blew up more like took off like rockets. Since then everyone has went with protected batteries and they quit exploding. The thing about pairing your batts is they work better. If you have a old battery that looses it's charge faster that a nrw one it's paired with then the possibility of the protection circuit going off is better and you will get no vapor.

I put little colored star stickers on my battery sets...one set has blue starts, one set has red, etc. I've never worried about stacking order but I do keep my sets together. Over cautious maybe but it's easy :)

And thank you for the answer on the built in heat / current protection!

Another great idea, Bovinia! You are just full of good ideas. I think that I am going to start doing this. I learn so much here.

between here and there
Hi all,
I am charging my batts now so I have a couple of questions.
1. How long does it take to charge?
2. Is the charger(from the kit) suppose to blink when charging?
All of the other chargers I have blink when the batteries are charging--this one is not. The lights have turned red so I hope that means that charging is taking place.
Any info is helpful.
And yes, I changed my screen name (aka--wv-bound)--I needed a change.

Thanks

You're welcome.

BTW, remember to roll them before you put them in; they're apt to be a little tight.

Well, I rolled but not sure if I am strong enuff. Never could quite get the roll-your-own down pat tho. :lol
I'm going to have to return it for the fix. No draw.
Waiting for the return email.
