Hello all,
So getting into RBA's and have a question, I want an RBA but I want to be able to screw the top on for when I am on the move. I know that most are not so you can control air flow which does make sense but at the same time kinda makes it at home only right? I am talented with my hands so if I get a screw top I can drill air hole where wick is if not already done and step up hole to match my preference....I have enlarged the vivi nova hole on one side of 510 connector which makes it perfect for me so not new to modifying tanks to match my vape needs. In all honesty all my tanks have air holes either drilled bigger or more-Airy draw for me I guess as I lung hit- So can people give me an idea of which RBA's are screw top and trying to stay under $40.00...Also if people have had good reviews of non screw tops that work when on the move please post. just afraid I will leak and pop off top constantly! Thanks Strapped

This RBA, the REO RM2 is about the best bottom fed RBA you can buy - screw on or not. The screw on top, ceramic base, bottom feed / drain hole and wide set posts put it over the top. It's $43.

The chalice is a another great bottom fed RBA with a screw on cap but out of stock and costs 4 times as much :)

So when you say you want an RBA with a screw on top, do you mean a genny or a dripper? Or does it not matter?

The Chobra (cobra clone) has a screw on top, and the one I have has the airhole lined up perfectly. I've heard issues with the airhole not lining up on the Chobras, so you might need to sand the tank and/or the cap to line up the hole if you get a bad one.

That's a genny however, not a dripper. If you want a dripper, there is a clone of the smoktech RDA which features a screw on topcap instead of just friction fit. They are pretty easy to spot due to the knurled base on the threaded version, the regular Smoktech one has a smooth base and friction fit via o-rings.

There is also the Vision ET. It screws together solid, has a dripper mode or a tank mode (those tiny ego-t tanks, not a real tank) Personally I think this is an overpriced, horribly designed device so I'd suggest avoiding it.

The Chobra is usually around $20 and the RDA clone can probably be had for under 10 bucks depending where you find it.

The first AGAs had a screw top as well, not sure if you can find those for sale anymore though.

If you can check our your Chobra before buying it that would be great. Hopefully you'll be able to find one with a hole that matches up out of the box. I had to drill the airhole and wickhole out on my Chobra, and did some slight modifications to the binding posts, but it's an excellent performer once you modify it to your liking. I'm puffing on mine right now with a .8ohm 28ga kanthal coil around a 500 mesh straw wick and couldn't be happier.

The Chobra does seem to resist wicking more than other gennys... not sure why. Other gennys I can vape fine with the fill screw in place, with the Chobra I must remove the fill screw for good wicking while chain vaping. I don't think it's a build issue, as I don't have this problem with any other gennys, just the Chobra. If you can't get it wicking well with the screw in it might not work well for you as a travel device, since you will have to worry about tipping it over and what not. SS rope might work better, since apparently it wicks far better than pure mesh.

fasttech has the chobra for cheap. get the $11 one wth the SS top. ibtanked has a glass tube for $7 if you want to upgrade it. i had to sand my plastic tube to get it to line up. take off the orings and use some wet 400+ grit till it line up. tank fits very tight on it. i also have the AGA t2 that is good. top cap is double oring and mine stays on good enough to pick my 18650 SVD by it with no problems.
